Not too bright HU - dim with lights would be nice

Hi. I've got a 1992 Dodge Ram camper van. The stock radio lights dim when the headlights are turned on, in synch with the dash lights. As I understand it, this is related to the orange wire.

Are there any aftermarket stereos with this feature?

I need to get a new unit. What also concerns me is the last unit I bought for my car has a super bright light which is very distracting. So if I can't get a unit that auto dims with the headlights, I'd like to get one that is not too bright.

I think that's pretty much a standard feature on modern head units.

Most newer radios are equipped with an Illumination lead that will dim with your dash lights...

Read the detail and reviews when you buy to figure out if this is included. Some of the budget units that are really cheap don't come with an auto dim feature but just about every other unit does.

Thanks! A few years ago I bought two head units and both did not dim with the headlights. Must be cheap units. I didn't do much research beforehand. Just trying to avoid that.

I just ordered a Clarion CZ505 for the camper van. I'll post an update later. The nice thing about Clarion (and probably others) is that their website has the User Guide for download. I read about the features there and the installation manual shows an orange wire for illumination/dim. So I should be good to go with that unit.
