2011 Chevrolet Impala

Just ordered a bunch of small random stuff from Parts Express, and also got Noico treatment materials from Amazon. Got 54sq.ft. of their 80mil deadener, and 75sq.ft. of their CCF. Heard from a couple places it's good stuff, so I'm going to try it out.

Ill help out as much as i can ..i did my entire build myself ..from wire deadning and building subs

Cool thanks. I'll have a spot between the sub box and the seats where I'm putting all the electrical. If I need more than the 270XP and G34 under the hood, I'll be getting ultracaps. But yeah I did eye that spare well, I was almost going to put amps in there. But nah, gonna show em off.

Should have checked out rammat. Pretty good stuff. I love OEM installs.
I feel you on the blazer wish I never would have bought mine.
My other choice would have been Knu Kolossus. Tested better than Raamat. But the Blazer wasn't bad for a while. Honestly, pretty sure it was my fault for most of the stuff. All the extra weight and CA ish.

Yea thats where my amps are i have a double decker amp rack there

So I need a little help. I don't know how to design this amp rack. What I want is basically this (just pay attention to the amps, not subs):

I'm going to be building a box to hold the amps, and then the rear board (towards the trunk, so what you see) will also be a beauty panel and be wider than the rest of the amp box. I wanted to mount the amps to the rear board so that the guts are visible. More I think about it the more I don't think that's possible though.

I don't know how to secure the beauty panel to where it's removable, so that I can get to the amps, and still have a clean look on the outside. It's going to be 1/2" plywood, so I don't trust magnets to hold that on there if the amps are mounted to it.

Actually, just thought of this while I was typing, maybe I can do hinges on the bottom so it folds out/down, then magnets all along the sides and top. Could be those cupboard magnetic latches (like this: Liberty White Heavy Duty Magnetic Catch with Strike-C080X0C-W-P - The Home Depot). But then I wouldn't be able to mount the amps to the rear board, I would have to mount them to the opposite side (towards the front of the car), and then would only be able to display the top/chassis.

Who's got ideas?

Glue a board to the back seat or however you feel comfortable.

Then create the front face like that one. To make it easy add long brass studs so it can be bolted in place.

If not add door hinges on the top and add a small lock to the bottom so you can lift the face up to access amps.

Well I've been really thinking about it, and I'm just going to live with brass screws/hardware. They don't look all that bad in stained wood. I looked at linear actuators, all kinds of cabinet latches, door poppers, a bunch of things, but nothing inexpensive that I was comfortable with. Not going to try to describe it, but trust me that I think it will look good.

Bought PVC end caps and a hole saw today for my tweeters, turns out I was off by an 1/8" when I eyeballed the tweeter hole size. Will be making another purchase tomorrow.

Yea the non folding backseat really throws a wrench in things ..i kno it would have change my build drastically...just keeo it simple..i think you have the right idea..id stick with a latch hinge idea vs a popper or linear actutor

It does, but it's not super hard to take it off. About 10 minutes, but still more of a hassle than I'd like. Regardless, yeah I'm going to just hold it on with brass screws or bolts. That rear board won't have anything on it, even the plexi is going to be further in. Not even going with hinges, going to make laying it flat harder, plus latches would be hard to do since the rear board will be wider and taller. Not sure I'll be able to get my hand back there if I cut it right.

Use the rear deck bro. Easy and clean
For the amps? They won't fit. I'm using 3 fairly large amps, and with the ports firing through the deck there's no way I can fit them. Thought about building something for them on the inside, but I don't want people to be able to see them.

I think I have a pretty good idea in my head. I'm decent at ideas. It's the execution where I fall flat :/
