2011 Chevrolet Impala

I have a 08 with a mechman 240 ext regulated to 15v duracell 55ah under the hood 2 100ah dekas in back with 4 runs of cca ..i run a aq3500.1 and a ppi bk800.4 and i drop from 15 to 14.2 full tilt...just some numbers for ya..u def wana ext regulate that alt or else u will drop to 12.9 as a starting voltage due to ecm control
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu. I was worried about that. So did you run wires through the stock ammeter at all then? I would think I still need them through there so the car tells the alt to charge. Or maybe not. I dunno, how that's integrated confuses me. I need to research it.

No the stock plug stays unplugged so it runs at whatever i set it at constantly

Its not a hard install..i can change the alt out in 20 min and took abt another 30 to mount n wire the ext regulator

Im interested in this as well. Looks like Singer will be able to build me an alt but itll be 250 amps max. Itd be helpful for me to keep a slightly higher voltage to compensate for the drop that the 4.5kw total power ill run will cause.

Yeah I took a look under there, looks like the hardest part is going to be getting the belt back on.

But the part I'm talking about is a little circular clamp meter right before the battery terminal that both positive leads go through. Know what I'm talking about? In any event, I think you're right, I wouldn't have to worry about that if I externally regulate. Just need to see what DC is going to charge for that. You have an external regulator from Mechman? And do you have any lights lit up on your dash?

Oh, and how'd you get your wire from front to back? Have ground run or ground in the rear?

So what did you do with the blazer? Sell it or keep it around?
Were you still happy with the sealed sound quality setup?
Dealer took it.

I sure was. I'm still shooting for the same with this. I'm doing a 4th order bandpass, but only because I want to minimize trunk rattle and my seat doesn't fold down. Even so, I'm doing less than 1:1, so I'm trying to tune it for flat response.

Alright, cool. I'm interested to see the 4th order get built in that car
Seems like lots of people eventually switch from SPL to SQ
I would love to be louder, with a flat response. But I'm really sick of all the stress on the vehicle, fixing things, all the weight, extra money for electrical, just all the extra bullshit that comes with being loud. So I've come to terms with just having something nice that may not punch me in the chest anymore, but is overall a better system.

All those ext regulators are the same ..and yes the batt light will come on ..im sure i could bypass it somewhere but it doesnt really bother me...and i have 2 pos runs amd 2 neg runs all ran thru rubber factory grommet under pass side of dash ..alkl4 runs are neatly routed under the carpet and pass seat..im pretty sure the regulators are 125-150 bucks ..its transpo brand i believe

Electrical is usually a one time cost unless you break something. Weight is understandable, but what other stress on the vehicle are you talking about?

After I get this build done, I just want to keep it for a while. That's why I'm trying to do things correctly

Weight is bad on the ******, gas mileage, suspension, basically the whole car. Cyclic vibrations mess with everything, and just a matter of time before stuff breaks. I want to minimize stuff breaking, I'm sick of spending money in this hobby.

Ok, I gotcha

Amen to not spending more money. My advice. Build something reliable and enjoyable. Change music selection every few weeks. Explore new stuff. Every time you do the system becomes new again
Yeah, that's actually the plan. Just gotta get the system nailed down first.

Cool man, I'll see if DC can help me out with the light. I'll be hitting you up later as I do the build more than likely.
