2004 mustang install

Has anyone done an install on a 2004 mustang? There is a heavy plastic .. thing that comes down in the trunk that makes the space limited to 11 inches high, is this just the enclosure for the stock subs? can i do away with that? let me know if anyone has a **** clue what im talking about //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif thanks

It is just the enclosure for the Mach speakers and amps. You can do away with it...

1. disconnect the stock Mach 460 amplifiers (they just unplug - I believe there are 4 disconnects)

2. remove the beauty panel above the rear deck

3. disconnect two more plugs (IIRC)

4. remove 6 (i think) nuts that are holding the rack/enclosure to the rear deck.

I did this a really long time ago, but it should be fairly accurate.

IIRC - this should give you 14-16 inches of clearance, instead of the 11 inches. the only other big pain is the back seat -> trunk opening.

ok i removed the enclosure today and used the hi input so that i didn't need to run rca's. That will work well right? i used the hi unput into the kicker from the woofers. if that makes sense. i have 15 inches of height, 14 inches deep, 33.5 wide.

It will work, but you should just get a new deck or at least a line output converter. Glad to see you got it out w/o any probs. If you are trying to get a large box into the trunk, remember, you can remove the back seat from with 4 screws... two high and two low (IIRC).
