ok so i went to best buy today to ask about the installation of my Rainbow Germs and my jl 450/4 and he gave me the price of $400...i also asked him about bi-amping them...and he said ok but asked me what to do with the 2nd channel...i thought that bi-amping used all 4 channels but i guess i was wrong so i told him to leave it alone

so my two questions are

does the price of $400 when i have nothing but the comps and the amp sound right?

i guess it was wrong when i came to bi-amping....i thought all 4 channels of a 4 channel amp was used to bi-amp comps...so could someone explain bi-amping to me?

thanks for any help:D

Bi-amping would use all 4 channels, one pair to your mids, the other pair to your tweeters.

If I was you, I would just consider that he failed a test on his install skills and find a real

installer that knows what he's doing.

aha i knew i was right...and ya at the moment im looking for local car audio shops:laugh:

man if you lived near me, i'd do it all for $100 + taco bell //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Let me ask u this, those components u r refering to, do u have a spot for the mid to be installed and just need holes to be cut & drilled for the tweets or does your vehichle need some kind of fabrication in order for the components to fit? Also r u providing the amp kit, because at Best Buy they'll probably charge u around $80 just for the amp kit alone, Then another $50-$70 to install the amp & run all the wiring. If the comps will fit right in without fabrication, just cutting for the tweeters, that will probably cost around $90. Now these r Best Buy & Circuit City pricing, give or take a few bucks. I know cause I use to keep up with thier pricing so that I would be cheaper. Then they ALWAYS charge a base materials charge witch starts at around $10 and goes up depending how much of thier stuff they used, like screws and stuff like that. Last thing is where did u want the amp to be mounted, is it in a tight spot or what.

Dude ASK them to break it down for ya so u know what u r paying for!! Don't just accept a price when u know it don't sound right! But if there is a need for fabrication for those comps to be installed then thats where thier price starts really going up! If I were u I would stay AWAY from Best Buy & Circuit Sh$%y, find a local shop and u will probably find someone who will treat u right. Good Luck!

ya ive begun my search for a local shop thanks for all that info it'll help me breakdown the cost a lot //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

although they're not really cheap either, but haven't heard anything but good stuff about them. don't have any personal experience with them yet though.

if you're broke [and i'm guessing you're not if you have germs] you can always go to one of teh flea markets and get them to install it all for 50, but i'd be wary. they don't really take care of your car at all but what do you expect for that cheap. haha.

you can always try doing it yourself. that's what i do. i don't consider myself good enough to work on someone else's car though. =P but if you need some advice or help i'm just a pm away.

do it yourself if you can figure out. im not downing you or calling you stupid but some people just cant do it and you could use that 400 on something good i remember when my installed my cd player i knew nothing it was my dads cd player i pulled it out of the box and i was like OMG what am i getting my self into but i sat down read the instructions and after a couple hours it was in WOOT! now i dont have to read anything just a suggestion

If u go to Crutchfield.com & enter in your vehichle info,(yr,make, model) it will give u all the stock speaker sizes in that vehichle so you will know what size holes u have to put your components in. For example- I have a Ford Explorer & the stock front and rear stock speaker sizes are 5x7. So I bought components with 5x7 mid speaker instead of 6.5" or 5 1/4" so that all I had to do was take the stock speakers out & put the new components right in the same hole, very simple!!Plus you can't tell that I changed out any speakers, except for the awsome sound of course, because they are hidden behind the stock grill in the door. I mounted my crossovers inside my doors in a place where moisture won't get to them. For the tweeter u should have two options- surface mount or a flush mount. Surface-mounting requires less time and fewer modifications to your car than flush-mounting does.If u do a surface mount all you need to do is drill a small hole to install the tweeter mount and run the speaker wire to the crossover. Sometimes in some vehichels this is the only option because u might not have enough depth for a flush mount. It's a little more work & time but the flush mount looks cleaner.
