can i freeair tand band 8's?

once im done installing my component set, im going to do another comp set for the rear. only ill be using 2 8" tang band 8's, and 2 tweeters. set them up the same as my comps with an x-over using the same 2 amps. Kenwood KAC 7202 (130 x 2 @ 4ohm) my question is.. can i free air the 8's? its in a 97 monte carlo coupe, no place to mount them becase my 6x9's are in the way. can i use those existing holes and just cut out more of a circular motion, or can i put one up by the winshield, and the other right below it towards the seat (in between where the 6x9's are) sorry, it was hard to explain how i was thinking of mounting them. i could do them side by side in between the 69's, but if theyre to close free air would that be bad?
