hi guys

i have a couple of easy ones that im not sure about myself since i never experimented with different idmax models

1. the V.3 of the idmax, means just different apperance, like the cone is different from previous models? thats it?

2. if you have the 2 12" idmaxs V.3 subs, but one has double and the other has triple stacked magnets, will there be any performance differences? negative responses?

thx!

The v.2 models have the triple 1" magnets. the v.3 models have two 1.5" magnets. The two models sound very similar. iirc, the v.3 models are more efficient due to the aluminum dustcap to dissipate heat.

I've had 2 iDmax's with what you described, one with a triple magnet, and one with a double stacked magnet. I couldn't tell the difference between the two, though one did seem to have a little more excursion (i forgot which)

but the cones do look identical correct? or do you mean that center round piece in the middle is made of aluminum on the v.3 and not on the v.2 ?

they cones do not look identical.

but i have the triple stacked Dual 2ohms, v.3 max, and my friend has a double stacked and the cones look identical. his is a Dual 2 ohm as well and is a v.3

how could that be?

are you sure there is 100% no double AND triple magnets types on the v.3 ??

the max with the triple stacked magnet could've been a v.2 reconed into a v.3 some point in its life. I am for sure that the double stacked magnets are the newer motors.

so is it possible that while the company was making the v.3 models, they used the triple magnets in some cases instead because of a shortage or something of double magnets?
