2 6ohm speaker wiring

I have 2 6 ohm dual voice coil subs. Ive read that you can wire these subs to a 2 channel amp and get either 1.5 ohms or 6 ohms. Do you wire both subs to just one channel on the amp or two? If you wire the subs up to get 6 ohms, can you bridge the amp to get more power?

Thanks for the info. It helped explain the wiring. I'm still wondering, if you bridged the 2 channel amp when powering the subs at a 6 ohm load, would it improve the output? How would it sound?
