2 18" in an explorer sport

Wow that box is really small for 18's... Im surprised it does well at the lows.
Thats 13.5ft net volume. I have to quote Scott from Fi here as he refered to it as a "Bottom end monster" which is exactly what it is. I was at a competition Saturday and it hit a 145.5 @ 30hz and 145.7 @ 32hz on a TL. IMO thats pretty freakin' good. Am I wrong here?!?

Also, the first thing said by everyone who has seen it in person has been "Thats a huge port". Its 192.5in / 13.5ft = 14.24 in per ft which is in the 12-16in per ft range that Fi calls for.

No, you aren't wrong. I wasn't saying you were (but aparently several people thought so //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif). I said I was surprised it does so well that low, considering its on the small end of recommended enclosure sizes.
Is that really 13.5 cubes after port and driver displacement? It doesn't look nearly that big, looks more like 13.5 gross.

im assuming its 13.5 after displacement. why is that small? fi reccomends 6-10 cubes per.
Even at net volume, that's on the small end of Fi's recommendations, generally not the alignment you chose for low-end output. But, it obviously works. *shrug* Just seems awful small, Im designing a box for my two 15's that wont be alot smaller than that. But if you have the power, enclosure size wont matter nearly so much.

Yeah, two 05 xxx15's, full size extended cab. It'll be loud, but not over the top loud like alot of people here run. Just over 1500 watts to each, Im hoping for 150, if Im lucky.
Right now Im working a deal to buy a second pair of (matching) 8's for my doors. I have midbass fever at the moment, and with a single 8 in each door Ive been afraid it would be my system's weak point. Thanks for the kind words George. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Derrick824, again meant no offense to your setup. Im sure it sounds/performs well, was just surprised, given the box size, and its relatively small look in your vehicle. It actually looks alot better than I would expect a pair of 18's to look, so //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

something about a 150 and not being over the top loud isn't clicking with me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

150 isn't over the top. I do right around a 150 at 35hz with two 15's in my explorer. hAvocs FTW.
to me that is over the top loud. its no 160db but its still loud as hell especially at the low freq you guys are doing it at. but i never said it was a bad thing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

btw gonna get those measurements today.

A whole lot of people think their system hits 150 (or more lol), precious few 'street systems' actually even come close. Seems today all you have to do is slap a couple name brand 12's and a mid-powered amp in your sled and you automatically get into the 150 club, until the meter gets broke out.

I cant tell you how many people, with average-at-best systems, have told me they hit 150 (or more lol). I listen to their system and immediately realize that if they think that's 150, they've obviously never even heard a 150 system before, let alone own one. lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

For your 'average' system, 150 is over the top, I suppose. I meant for around here where we have so many SPL guys doing serious numbers, my setup wont be competitive. But that wont be its intention either.
