2 10's ported or 3 10's sealed

Which will hit harder? 3 10's sealed or 2 10's ported. The subs would be T3 Audio TSS series which take about 600 watts RMS. I am actually looking to reduce the amount of box space in my 4-Runner but do not want to sacrifice sq or bass. The amp would be a PPI PC 1800.2.

2 ported 10" by far. Been there, done both.

i vote for the 2 10"s ported, those are pretty stout subs and seem to perform well ported if i remember right

box shouldnt be that much bigger than 2 12's ported

The pair ported will be louder I'd imagine. I've gone from a pair of 10s sealed to one ported and the one ported was much louder.

I just put in the ported box for the 2 10's and that f*ck*n slams like nobody's business. My mirror hasn't moved in 6 months since I took out my 2 RF T1's in a ported box. Those 2 10's ported moved the hell out of my mirror and car furthermore. It goes to show like an installer told me about 18 years ago. You get the right woofers, box to the specifications of the woofers with clean power and even 10's can sound like 15's. 3 10's were good but the ohms load was very odd and caused problems. I just wanted to downgrade a little more get back some of my truck space but not lose too much boom. 2 10's do it for me. I am not trying to shake up the block anymore.

You guys called it right. Now I have an even ohm load as well.

Nice to hear from another 10" lover! I love/loved mine as well ported.

I had 3 RE SEs running of the IA 20.1 sealed, but not enough poundage for me. They did sound great though.

I am too old to be waking up the neighborhood but not too old too have my mirrors move. Plus I no longer need 2 12's or 2 15's to do it. I have been thinking about this for some time 3 years but was a little leary on taking that last step and now I did. i've adopted this philosophy as well. efficiency has become far more important than straight loudness. it's a challenge to get alot of volume from a smaller space, and a 10 fits the bill for that nicely. even an 8 can be impressive. i'd love to be able to afford one of the focal 16 inch k2 power subs. you won't find many 16 inch subs that can be ported in under 2.5 cubes. too bad they're 600$+.

Exactly, kcdc30 for me it isn't all about volume anymore. It's about getting big sound out of little speakers like 10's. These 2 10's ported are not far off from my old 12's ported. It's real close. But it beats the hell out of 3 10's plus I save more trunk space. As my car audio knowledge improves so does putting the proper system together with the proper power, speakers and enclosures.

Where did you get the box?

Ground-shaker. They had 2 of them available so I called T3 audio got the specs on the box and the 1st box specs matched them to a tee. Each chamber has 1.6 cubic ft tuned to 35 hz. The box cost $40. If you go through woofersetc they will charge $149. I live 45 minutes away from LA so I had no trouble driving down there and picking up the box myself. To save $100 no problem.
