1996 Ford Windstar, FU Audio & Sundown

Well, after some burp testing it seems that I'm getting nearly full excursion at ~40hz and I'm not even at full power yet. So I guess the plan now is to EQ down 40hz once I install the battery so I don't hurt the subs while listening to music, and save up for a pair of the 1800's. I could get a stiff recone but I don't want to turn these into SPL subs, I like my lows too much.

Equipment is out temp. so I can deaden the brace the vehicle.

The false floor was attached using just a few bolts before. Now it's permanently attached using some PL375 and some drywalls just to hold it in place while it dries.

Also installed a volt meter

Right now I'm in the process of pulling out the headliner so I can brace the roof. I just have to say, this car is absolutely miserable to work on when you're dealing with the interior. Nothing makes sense whatsoever. All of those little plastic pieces on the edge of the headliner for stuff like dome lights and coat hangers are fastened permanently using a one way plastic clip that's about 1/2" thick. The seatbelts are attached using a 1/2" torx bit and they aren't even hex heads so I have to somehow find a 1/2" torx bit just to remove the B and C pillars. Wicked pain in the ass, makes me miss my pathfinder

Some much needed bracing. Used PL375 and expanding foam. I'll give it overnight to cure before I remove the 2x4's.

Tomorrow the subs, amp and batt will go in. I'll most likely see about installing the comps on Friday, though I don't have a place for the tweets right now since this vehicle doesn't have a factory tweeter AFAIK. Probably going to end up A-pillar'ing them once I get my hands on some bondo.

Welp, the bracing didn't quite work out like I wanted it to. The smaller pieces on the front and back of the roof came out ok but the ones in the middle did not brace it at all. Basically they are just acting as weights right now, just adding some mass to lower the Fs of the roof but not deadening it or strengthening it. I was hoping the foam would do a little more to make the panel rigid. The issue is that the wood isn't touching in the middle because it can't bend that much, so my plan is to loctite some 1/2" thick strips of wood in the middle where the gap is the largest, let that harden, and then attach the larger bracing piece as I normally would, except fastening the bracing to the strip of wood, which will pull it up tightly against the roof and also create a stiff bond...I hope.

I wondered about this when I see people using wood. If it doesn't conform and stick to the roof, you may be making things worse and I imagine it would be almost impossible to remove it. So you need something dense yet flexible.

Hopefully you get it worked out though.

Did you find the torx bit you need?
Yeah it was a T50 torx, home depot sells em for a dollar lol.

Ah I didn't know how much they cost. Was gonna say I got 1 I could send you.
Yeah no it's not a big deal, it's just that home depot is 20 minutes away so it sucks to have to spend 40 minutes worth of gas for a $1 bit that I will only use once lol
