1996 Ford Windstar, FU Audio & Sundown
Looks great! Those FU sub's seem nice for the price.
For sure. I was in the market for some subs, hoping to try something new and I stumbled across @TaylorFade 's showdown thread where some of the less popular subs were tested and the FU audio was one of the top rated ones. As I mentioned before, the only thing I'm not a fan of are the free hanging tinsels. I was worried the basket would be an issue considering how thin it is but it feels very sturdy. I wish the terminals were 4g though, it makes wiring them a pain when you're using 8g because I have to do a run for every terminal.

Vehicle prepped for install. False floor is bolted down and hidden by the carpet.

This is temporary. I want to make a simple amp rack by putting in an angled piece of wood that the sundown and DD a2 (not installed yet) will rest on. I can hide my rca's, the angle iron and those holes in the carpet where the seats latch in.

...And this happened after about 3 seconds of playing any song below 30hz.

Because this is a van, it has a large stock alt so I can actually get quite a bit of power out of the saz. I figured I would be running 1/3 power but it might be closer to half. I still have to clamp it to see what I'm getting. It definitely is hitting a 147 as is. I'm gonna need to deaden the **** out of my rear hatch and brace the roof with some wood.

I've only messed with it for maybe 30 minutes but first impressions are great. I'm a little worried about adding more power, not because the subs can't take it, but I'm not sure if the subs have the xmax to deal with it. Some of the 40hz notes gets them moving a lot, but back it down to ~30 near my tuning and it's fine. I might even see if FU can make a stiffer recone, but at that point I might as well just order a pair of the new 1800's.

I'll be ordering my XP3000 very soon. I want to get a chance to deaden/brace as much as I can before that gets here. I'm losing too much output with all the rattling and flex that's going on.

I'll try and make a vid in the next few days. Need to move my music to a flash drive before I can do that, though.

LMK if you need some time on a meter before the show. I got some decent fatmat deadener for a reasonable price, and quickly. May be an option for you.

Subs unloading at and above 40hz?
Yeah that's what it seems. The box is further away from the hatch than I'd like it to so I can still access the bolt for my spare tire, I wonder if that has anything to do with it. I'll take some time here at some point and play around with some tones to see what's going on.

Definitely going to have to hit you up about the meter. If you don't mind parting with some of the deadener, I'd be interested to try it out and see how it does. Otherwise I'll just use some stinger roadkill.

Likely it'll only tune lower if you move the port closer to the lift-gate. FYI I'm up in Wilton and have a meter if I'm any closer.

Wilton, home of the worst bowling alley in Maine! (Back in the mid-late 90's at least!)

Jesse I don't have any deadener to sell, maybe a bit to spare if you have specific small spots. We will see about metering asap
