1994 Corvette First Build

To be fair even though this is the first time I've worked with fiberglass I've read about 10 books on fiberglass repair before I started this. I was going to repair a 40 foot boat that I have... ended up with a 50 gallon drum of resin an 3 huge rolls of different types of fiberglass. The repair I used is what they recommend to repair floors, if you would repair the hull instead of the 45 degree cut I used on the opening you would just bevel that area out further to give even more surface area for the next layers of glass to bond to. The glass used to support the layers on top can be any backing material, you could even use tape, it's just so the glass on top has a plane to rest on while it cures.

After this the next step is to fill the depression with mat to make it level, then add a few more layers of weave on top, dry and sand.

For your first build, you're doing everything the right way - overbuilding.

That box will be solid as a rock once it's completed. Nice work so far.

Man, that should be a solid enclosure for sure when all finished up.
Very nice deadening job as well. Overall awesome job! I think you are lieing about this being your first install, lol!

Thanks for the comments, and yes this really is my first build... the only thing I've done before this is hook up some CD players but I've done a lot of mechanical work on the car maybe that's what's been helping.
