i know what youre saying, and thats what i meant. its not going to be very sturdy/rigid without anything underneath it. i would cut the cloth out over the hole, staple fleece from side to side to patch the hole, and THEN glass over it. trust me. or even better, put a piece of mdf in there.
youre doing a great job for your first time, but believe me, i have alot of experience with this stuff. just trying to help out before its too late.
That's actually something I read on the fiberglass forums... it was really solid before I added more glass to get it close to 1/2 inch so I think you're right.Nice build, and for the record, fiberglass doesnt need to be 1/2" thick..... cmon
its not too late man. get a staple gun, staple fleece in. believe me, once you add a couple layers those staples will be goneI appreciate your comments, and this is the first time I've ever fiber-glassed anything... I already have the resin waiting to cure on there , if it doesn't work out I can always cut it out again. I can't use fleece right now because I'd have to hot glue it in, the box is all fiberglass so I can't staple it and the resin being wet wouldn't let me hot glue it right now. But I don't see how it would make a difference either way, that cloth is going to be rock hard before I start glassing it. I do see how the fleece would have been a better idea since I could have stretched it and it would be tight. If I screw it up I'll post pics of the screw up lol...
who told you 1/2" do you remember? ill go e slap them right now..That's actually something I read on the fiberglass forums... it was really solid before I added more glass to get it close to 1/2 inch so I think you're right.
Staple into the fiberglass? I didn't think they would go in but if they can I'll try it. I don't remember who said the 1/2 inch thing but it was on that forum... at least it's really solid now lol.its not too late man. get a staple gun, staple fleece in. believe me, once you add a couple layers those staples will be gone
better tires. i can gun my 89 vette and it sticks pretty good.Install looks like it's coming along great.
I have a question though, not audio related. When gunning it from a still position, does the rear of your car swing like crazy? My cousin has a '90 Vette and wants to know how to get a good launch that doesnt require a slow start. I'm sure tension bars would help, but it's hard finding those //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
Aftermarket suspension parts should help that, it's a common problem I read about at the corvette forum (unless he wants to convert to a solid rear axle). As far as exactly what needs to be done I don't know, I'd go there and search or post a question. Sticky tires will help but I think it has more to do with it being a rear split axle and the way the transmission/differential turns them. I'm definitely not a suspension/drivetrain guru though.Install looks like it's coming along great.
