1994 Corvette First Build

looks pretty good so far..

that whole you cut out, the cloth sitting here.. i hope you plan on putting something else besides cloth there.. i would have put a piece of mdf and glassed over it. no way that cloth will hold rigid.

I'm waiting for the resin to cure on the sides of that cloth, then I'll coat the rest of the cloth with resin and let that cure. It will be solid then, and after that I'll add glass on top of the cured glass that is cloth now. So it will be the same concept as I did with the fleece.

the ****** tunnels on corvettes seem to amplify the exaust noteinside the car for some reason. - vette dudes call it exaust "drone"

is usual for the c4 vette.

looks like $400 worth of sound mat in there ?

Yeah the exhaust drone was driving me crazy... and its at least $400 of deadener on there. I know I bought more than that but had some second skin stuff left over which I sold.. still have like 40 sq. feet of overkill pro but I think I'm going to keep it, it can be used for a lot of things.

Oh I forgot to ask you, how would you compare the dynamat to the raamat?

For flat areas I liked the Dynamat Xtreme more because its a lot less messy to work with, a little thicker and much stiffer than RAAMat. Any part of the car that has irregular surfaces then I'd use RAAMat over Dynamat or Second Skin stuff any day, it's foil layer is flexible and doesn't get cuts in it like Dynamat and it conforms much easier to corners, bumps, etc.. When I say that RAAMat is messy I'm talking about the butyl layer, its so sticky that black stuff gets all over your hands and the garage so cleanup isn't fun. There's almost none of that with Dynamat/Second Skin.

i know what youre saying, and thats what i meant. its not going to be very sturdy/rigid without anything underneath it. i would cut the cloth out over the hole, staple fleece from side to side to patch the hole, and THEN glass over it. trust me. or even better, put a piece of mdf in there.

youre doing a great job for your first time, but believe me, i have alot of experience with this stuff. just trying to help out before its too late.

Yeah I know exactly what you mean. Thats pretty much what I was hoping to hear. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
