1992 Saturn SL2

Nice....the equipment, the quality of the install and the discipline to do it right the first time
Glad to see a 16 year old with patience and some god **** common sense. I'm diggin the fact you worked for your money and flew everything on this build solo. Doing installs by yourself always sucks and it's nice to see someone read up on how to install and do it right the first time. I will never understand why %90 of people who install stereos do it half assed. I like how you went back and corrected the port issue, most people would have just left it

If I could say anything it would be the doors. I know I'm not there to personally listen to your system but I would bet deadening those front 2 doors would make those Hertz speakers sound even better. +1 for rockin the jigsaw for your cutout and not making it look like the state of texas. Would have been nice to see you design the box yourself rather than go to the good ol' re audio calculator though;)

For 16 you got your shit together. Keep it up
Thank's man I really appreciate feedback like this. I know the doors could use some deadening, and I am probably gonna go ahead with that in a little when I have some extra money.

My sub should be here within a week. And as soon as i get that ring from Twisted I'll glue it on and paint the box. Should be finished up pretty soon, I can't wait to see how it sounds.

Darn man you get more posts on your build thread than mine LOL.Ya the box dose look nice you took your time and that shows.

you better put some vids up i'll try to get some of my friends ls1 his stereo is just a budget build but it still bangs for what it is especially considering he only paid 400 for it

I stole some big strips of velcro from my gym, think puttin some of that on the bottom of the box will keep it in place enough? i want to be able to remove the box if i need the room for something.

What I did for my box was got some scrap plywood laying around and took my carpet out of my trunk and traced it on the plywood, then cut down the middle to make it fit in the trunk, placed carpet back on, then screwed my box down in place. Nobody is getting my subs, unless they have the right angled screw driver or are strong as fawk, lol! I imagine them getting really pissed and just fawk my car up. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Coming along bud.

Ah good idea. I'm just gonna be smart about mine and hope nobody tries to steal it. This is the car my dad and I would still use for camping and whatnot so i need to be able to take it out fairly easily.

Anyways my sub should be here within a week, hopefully. Thing is I leave for camp for a week next Sunday, so even if my sub does come before I leave I'll only have like a day to enjoy it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Finished painting the box, hopefully the sub is here by the end of the week. Just gotta get the wires soldered to the terminals and that secured and sealed. You can see I added another MDF ring to give the sub a little more clearance from the back wall.

I played around with the sub facing the trunk, cabin, and right side. It seemed to be loudest facing the side, and second loudest facing the trunk.

Now none of my friends really have systems, so I really don't have anything to compare mine too since it's really the only one I've ever heard, but it seems to be pretty loud to me, especially for what it is and how much room the box takes up. I set the sub gains to around 700w with a dmm, and even at near full tilt I barely drop below 14v at the back, so that's a lot better than i was expecting. Here's a video, sorry it's not that great it's my first video but feel free to leave comments.
