18 vs 15 and some other questions

Fi recommends 6-10 cubes ported for the SSD 18. Just get the 15, the 3.5 cubes is right in the middle of Fi's recommended range.

Flatwind coil: more power handling

Copper coil: better SQ

BP power: already answered.

If you REALLY want an 18, rip out the back seat. They're all but useless in an F Body anyway.

i got it to 4 cubic feet now... still too little? i can make a chamber on the back probably and get it to 4.5-5, would that work? id really rather have an 18

Still more than a cube less than Fi recommends. Why don't you shoot Scott an email? He knows more about the SSDs than anybody here (except the other couple of guys who work for Fi).

yea, i cant make it that big anyway, basically my dimentions are limited to 39x20x10.5 outside and it is tight as heck, i might just have to go with ripping out my back seat , i dont sit back there anyway haha

IDK, the use of passive radiators generally decreases the size of box you need. Like I said, e-mail Scott Atwell. He'll be able to help you out

Maybe one of these sexy beasts. Bit pricey, but kickass amps.

the amp i got is 1200 at 2 ohms, will that be enough for those? i thought they were 600 RMS, can they handle any more?

It'll be plenty as long as it puts out rated power. They can take more, but there's no need for it. Won't make any audible difference.

What amp do you have anyway.

any other ideas on amps? price is a big deal, im only 16 and im working to finish a project car i bought, itll be a while before i get any subs at all.

i got the door speaker amps, but i had a dual 12 box for the hatch, and this new car i got has t tops so im making a different box. i might run my 12's until i get some MJ18's

how loud would these 2 18s be compared to 2 15in punch stage 1s with 800 watts between the 2?

im considering sticking with a 15, but i was trying to be different, how many F bodys have u seen with 18's in them, and im working on having the best stereo in school, i already got the fastest, loudest, and in my opinion best looking car, now i need to regain the title of best stereo lol

how? lol. ive been looking around this site, i saw in someones sig they hit like 154 dbs with a 10, so ill quit on the big speakers = loud. how should i set up a 15? my box is real tight, its 39x19x10 most recently, im still perfecting my size to get the most out of it.
