18" Fi SP4 setup help

I do see what your saying, but he was running same power I was. It sounded SO different, that is something I'm scared of is that I wont like the kind of bass that it produces.
Alot of factors diff sub diff car improperly setup bad box ..dont sweat how his sounded just take the steps to make urs nit sound that way lol

About the tuning though, I have 2 12s tuned at about 32Hz but, they dont hit 32 as good as they hit 37, so I thought that maybe if I tuned lower than 30 that it would make 30 my "peak" point
This is very dependent on the woofers. You should learn to use some box modeling software to see how different woofers react in different boxes.

I think that could be done, with 2 SP4 15s I would have to spend ALOT more money with upgrades than I would the single 18, and honestly I want an 18. Simply because I have never had one before.
You will NEVER make a pair of 15's work efficiently in a trunk. Single 18 is pretty sketchy but it might be do-able. Bear in mind you'll need a pretty big box and you'll want a lot of port area. So even with say a 5-6 cube box you're looking at another 4 cube for port volume assuming you're married to the idea of super low tuning if you want an efficient port.

U cant fit 2 15s either u dont have the space 2 15s would take up more room than a 18..a pair of 12s in the right box would be louder than a 18 crammed into a small box
This is very true.

U got a good start and picking good equipment so ur not totally off track ..i ran the bc3500 on a pair of dd3512s before this .its a nice amp..i dont like the sp4 due to the fact ive seen many catch fire,, yes i saod catch fire in person ol
Sewn in leads?

Ok, so if the SP4 isn't so good, What is a good sub for super lowend, similar to how the SP4 is.
TC Sounds LMS 5400. 18 will actually perform in rather small box. If you need to play whale songs accept no substitute, you cannot beat LMS technology.

Ahh the majestical sounds of whales mating gets me off lol ...yea fi shlt the bed on that one ..

I run HDC3 18"s and I'm tuned to 35hz. They still get down at 24hz. I would not try and shove an 18" in your truck. Two 12"s is what I would do in a trunk car.
Go with 2 Sundown Zv4s or Xs if you want lows.

I do agree, the surrounds are kinda obnoxious.

Nightshade not good for lows?

The nightshades are more of a spl oriented sub but to say that a sub wont get low or good for lows is not true ..the x and zv4s just lend better to playing low but the wrong box can *** that up easy and the right box can make the nightshade a lowend monster...a 15"evil would be fun or 2 12" xcons or zcons

I might just try to Zv4, What kinda power should be run to it?

This dude is running 3500 watts a piece?

I ran an X-10.

I had it on a good amp that pushed 3500 watts RMS. After voltage drop and box rise, it was seeing closer to its 1250 rms rating. Its good to have headroom with your amplifier. Just because his amp can really put out 3500 to a static load doesn't mean all of that will get to the sub.

So if I do end up doing the 2 12" Zv4s I should probably get the SAZ-3500?

If it was me, I'd go bigger. I like to have a lot of headroom, so I can send the sub a clean signal. If you get the SAZ-3500, you may not get the full potential out of both subs.

Look into Banda and Taramps. They're Brazilian. They are more efficient and less costly for high power. I'm running a Banda 7000 rated at 8400 rms to my dd Z. It is not maxed out, and after box rise the sub sees much less power. Voltage drop is almost non-existent too
