18" BTL box issues.....

I have picked up two 18" BTL's, fully loaded. I have 12.44 cubes to work with, total. I'm going to run the subs inverted so I don't lose any space for driver displacement. I will be running 6000 watts. I want to tune it at 33-35 Hz, so my issue is this:

A slot port is going to take up a rediculous amount of space to tune it that low. If I were to turn to PVC, or aeroports, what should I use for port area? What do you pro's recommend? What should i do?

looking for pure SPL? If so, 3.5 cf each tuned to 40 htz gets crazy loud on that sub

dude, youve already been told on here, SSA, and ROE, AND have been given proof.

you can get by with ~50% less port area by going with aero ports...

ok. heres his thread on SSA and the answers are in there. look on the last page.

i give a couple quotes from Loyd (bigbassman) and djman37, and then devildriver gives mathematical proof. loyds testing shows a 4" aero is equal to 25^2 of slot port. so considering a 4" aero is 12.xx^2, yet acts like a 25^2 slot, you can get by with half the port area by using aeros.

not to thread jack but i thought aero ports jsut cut down on port noise...

But Doesnt more port area increase the possibility to get louder?

for example...

wouldnt 150in^2 slot port possibly get louder then

100in^2 worth of aero ports of the same tunning?

that 100^2 of aero port (if your talking about using something like 3-4 aeros) will act like 200^2 of port, plus have the ability to minimize port noise. people have seen as much as 2db gains from going to aero ports, with less port area than when they were using slots

Ive hear alot of people gettign gains i just dont see how it works, does air travel faster through the aeros?

What about a well sanded slot port, or even angle slot port?

not really.

i know searching for "aero port area" on this site will give you some results.

and i know that devildriver, is currently posting in the other aero port area thread right now. hes the dude that showed the math behind it.
