16v System - Is it worth it?

I got a memphis 4kw in the hopes of eventually giving it 17v. I wanted to then get another 4kw for whatever wattage that would give me, I'm guessing in the range of 12-13kw.

My problem now is going about powering 16v batteries. I am already set on Powermaster D1000s. I would ideally like to get a bracket made for my mountaineer (97 5.0) for a second 16v alt to run my batteries. Doesn't look too easy though, even if taking out the A/C.

So what else? I can only think of two other routes...

***Kinetik 16v tripost up front? I heard they could bulge / explode. I'd be running about 1000w for mids/highs off of the 12v as well as the factory elec

***Step down Module? I replaced my factory alternator and now have a 200a alteranator. Would that have to be ditched for something externally regulated?

the kinetik way is the quick solution, dual alts would be best, and nice choice of batts, I have 4

I'm in the identical situation. I'm opting for the kinetik triple post up front.

Im going with the Kinetik HC16v up front, but everyone tells me it will explode. Its only temporary until I can get a 12v alt in there.

my kinetik crapped out, but they shipped me a new one since i have a warranty. best way is a dual alt set-up. u can also run the step down if u want

Why do the kinetiks break? Isn't this exactly what they were meant for..?

I think it has to do with the battery cells discharging at different rates

Not guaranteed, Neill Barber has been runing 20+ HC16vs for about 3 years without a problem.

Ive heard that alot of people have problems with it though. Im just doing it until I have cash to do it right.

I wouldn't do 16v if its your daily driver.

I have another car (srt-4) so i don't drive the mountaineer all the time.

Would it be better (safer) to have 2 Kinetik 16v up front to share the 12v load? and then the powermasters in back?

good choice on the powermasters.

16v is nice to have. but i ask have you played around with the memphis much yet and given it a solid 14v yet? I was thoroughly impressed with mine and i didn't even have to go to 16v to get wow'd....that's just me...
