-Sundown 3500D (3500RMS-ish)

-(2) 15" Type-R's

-9 cu ft @ 32 hz, with one big a$$ port.

I'm still deciding which sub to go with for the next big(ger) build, so in the mean time im going to play around with the sundown thats on the way, and see how loud i can get on a 2 15's setup (the goal is to be comparable to the 4 15's setup, but instead of going with lots of cone area and underpowering, im going with less cone area and WAY more power per sub)

How long are they gonna last? I'm really curious to see how they behave with such a large port.

2 type r 15's given 3,500 watts? Let's see if they last a week.
I've fed a 15" Type-R 2krms in a daily setup for months.... in a smaller box w/ a smaller port.

This is more or less an experiment until i order some new subs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

what was the impedence rise on that then cause i havent heard of a type r taking 2k w/o smoking
couldnt tell ya, sorry //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

aside from the e-boner your trying to put up, i know before going into this that the subs arent going to take all 3500. Like i said, this is an experiment just to see what happens, until i have other subs to play with.

I believe they would if your box was smaller or if you turn your gains down pretty low.
for daily purposes i'll probably just give them around 2k-ish, depending on how they like the box.

I'de love to burp them with the full 3500 though, hopefully i can get my hands on a TL.

the 4 15" R's did just shy of a 150 @ 29hz, on ~4k. Im just curious to see a comparison.

Hey, it's an experiment though and if it works, it works. You have a lot of experience with those so I'm sure you know what you're doing and you'll be able to tell if you're stressing them.

i think they'll take the wattage if your careful, but i don't think they'll take it in a box that big... i thought type R 15's liked 3-3.75 ish
I've had the best luck with 4cu ft @ 34hz in an SUV, and 4cu ft @ 33hz in my avalanche (sounded very nice, peak frequency was 29hz as stated earlier)
