$12K----What car to buy?

I'm in the market for a new car, I've got about $12k to spend.
I want something that will hold its value (So long any domestic product), reliability is a MUST, and a nice comfortable interior.

Originally I was thinking maybe a 2000-2002 Lincoln LS V8 w/sport package. I was also considering a 2000 - 2002 Cadillac STS.

But I don't need a car that big, and I sure as hell don't want to pay for the (premium) gas that their V8 engines will gulp.

Anyone?

Every car is bound to get stolen if ur just dumb about it...

Just be careful, and follow the "guide" that's on there... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

Just because a car appears on the top stolen vehicle list doesn't mean you should avoid buying it. There is a car stolen once every 25 seconds in this country, and any car is potentially at risk.

I love my Ford Focus...........so much I am selling my 02 Eclispe GTS that was 30000 dollars when I bought it brand new in 02. Just got done paying it off though. Thats my point, I know a lot of people dont like Fords and dont like Focus's, but I have the ST, which is the car that discontinued the SVT Focus and it is a lot of fun. Gets good gas mileage, comes in stick, very comfortable and is very fast for 151 stock hp. I have about 170 at the wheels now, but still compared to my eclispe hp wise is not close and I beat my eclispe everytime I take it to the track.

So what I am getting at,

fast

fun

good on gas

roomy

loves the turns

I say if you could afford it get one of those.

Then again is a domestic and wont hold its resale value much and I know that, but plain on keeping it for a long time.

Could check into the SES Focus's, but you lose so much torque from the ST. I had to rent one for my fiance and when I got in my ST, I felt like I had a drag car, lol! Still nice realiable car though and even better on gas. Ask Faulkton, who is a member here about his. He loves it! They can be had for right around what you are looking to spend new, maybe a couple thousand more loaded!

The power output of an engine depends on the energy content of its fuel, and this bears no simple relationship to the octane rating. A common myth amongst petrol consumers is that adding a higher octane fuel to a vehicle's engine will increase its performance and/or lessen its fuel consumption; this is false—engines perform best when using fuel with the octane rating they were designed for and any increase in performance by using a fuel with a different octane rating is minimal or even imaginary.

octane is not defined as power potential. octane basically has to do with when the fuel detonates/combusts. putting higher octane fuels in cars that are designed to run on lower octanes DOES NOT help your car in any way, and can actually hurt it in some situations...
Individual results vary. That if definitely not true in my situation. I consistently would get 280m using 87o before I would see my low fuel light come on, and after using 93o I would be at 320m before it would come on.

lawl apparently the laws of physics apply differently to Qbenjamin
