$12K----What car to buy?

I'm in the market for a new car, I've got about $12k to spend.

I want something that will hold its value (So long any domestic product), reliability is a MUST, and a nice comfortable interior.

Originally I was thinking maybe a 2000-2002 Lincoln LS V8 w/sport package. I was also considering a 2000 - 2002 Cadillac STS.

But I don't need a car that big, and I sure as hell don't want to pay for the (premium) gas that their V8 engines will gulp.

Anyone?

is there a type of car u like, like suv, sedan, etc???

Im looking to buy a 4 runner in like a month. They definitely hold their value if you check out the prices, they are reliable, and the model im looking at all are 4 cylinders, which get good gas mileage for an suv.

Just wanted to comment on the 200-2002STS. You can put 87 in them. For some reason the cadillac dealers in FL recommend that. If you check the cadillac forums some of them will say that too. Its debatable.

you'll know when you're not putting the right type of gas in, trust me.

something domestic that holds value? the words Domestic and Value don't go together. Only thing you might be able to hold its "value" is maybe a mustang or something along those lines. Other than that .. Import is the choice to go that is reliable and will hold value.

Paying a difference in 87 vz 93 is so small, that I don't understand why people even bother wasting their time debating the issue. Normally by filling up with 87, you only save about $4 per fill up. If you fill up once a week, then you are looking at only saving ($16) about $20 a month. Your car deserves premium fuel if it is recommended by the manufacturer. My Monte Carlo only requires 87, but after I started using 93 about 2 years ago the performance of my car was sooooo much better. I even get about 3-4 more miles per gallon. Basically fellaz, if you value your car's performance then you will use premium gas.

My local gas station prices:

87 2.099

89 2.199

93 2.299

My car holds 16 Gallons of fuel. If I use 87, then I spend $33.58; 89 $35.18; $36.78. A difference of only $3.20!!!
