12 Type-R with 800wrms daily?

Its gonna be ported, powered by a MTX 6500D which does a little over 800. Will I fry it? I know these things can handle a lot of punishment but how much? Thanks

no it would most definately be fine.....give it around 1000 and it will come to life.

I have the same amp and i am plaining on a 12 type R set up too but i currently running a Jl 12w6v2 which recently tore around the surround but i had it for 3 years and i hardly doubt it was because of over watage

Should be ok. I only had 500 a piece on mine and did fine for a couple years. Then ended up blowin them, probably due to me turing my amp up and they were old. Who knows, but should be ok.

you can only expect so much from a 2 inch coil. For a burp 1000+ would be fine, for daily driving around its going to get stinky.

i kinda doubt they use a 4 inch coil. you gotta pay good money to get a sub with a 4" coil. i figured it was either a 2.5" or 3" coil. 2" is tiny.

800 would be fine, the key would be to get the perfect matched box. i had mine in a wrong box and it was crappy and the lows were unnoticeable so i just sold it. i've had other subs that did fairly well in a prefab but the type r is picky or it could of just been me.

i ran mine at 800-1000 daily and never had an issue. ironically i really like the subs and felt they were a good bang for the buck.

It'll take the 800 w/ease, just watch the lows.

800 watts will barely get it moving. I had 1100 on mine, never got stinky, sounded great, loud, and gain was set with a -3db tone also. I don't know how that little coil can take the power but it does.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
