12'' type r/rms confusion

so I see so many people say they are running type r's... most of the time they say that they are giving EACH around 700-1000rms each.. are they just mistaken? because the type r's are rated for 500 rms.. .or can they take higher, just not on a continous basis?

They are pretty beastly. Doesn't matter what the RMS says, these things can take 1000 watts if you know what you're doing.

I have 800 RMS going to my old style Type R on a daily basis, listened to probably an hour a day. These things take power pretty good.

awesome... I got the 12'' type x's on the way.. i'm thinking that 1600watts may not be enough for both

Type Rs are are great subs and some people rag on them because there inexpensive. And fyi..the old style Type Rs were rated at 300wrms just to show u what there capable of.

yeah.. for 150-200 dollars on onlinecarstereo.com you can't really beat them.. although I would love to pick up a few Kicker CVR15 off that same site for 160 each... I just need another car haha

Yep rated at 300RMS, I was actually accidentally sending it around 1kRMS for about a week //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif But it took it just fine. Also, I purchased it for 50 dollars, so I think they are great investments, even if paying more than what I paid.
