12" Type X box build **PICS**

Well I got to work on the box for the new Type X this last weekend, I went from a big nasty, complex, 4-10" ported system to a single Type X in a very small sealed box (about .9 cubes.) I’m still breaking it in... (I don’t want any "you don’t need to break it in" guff either. I pay 2 bills for a sub I’m going to at least give it a little break in.) I can already tell that it will blend a lot better and it already sounds a lot cleaner than my old subs and the amp is still most of the way down... so I think this little baby will have plenty of bump when I get her broke in.

I didn’t get any pics of the build, but it wasn’t to exciting. Just a square box, gluing screwing, sanding, ect. I whipped it out in about 2 hours. Then covering it took another hour.

I still want a grill for it, I was thinking something silver metal colored for some contrast with all the black, but im not sure what to get…I was looking at these:

Give me your opinion on the grill idea.

Are your seats leather or something?

Looks good! But whatever you do dont get those grill covers. Looks fine the way it is. Unless you carry around lose stuff in your trunk and you are worried about your sub getting damaged. Peace!

thats a pimp enclosure you got their, but whats the egg foam thing for? i heard of using some sort of white fluffy stuff, but never egg cartons =\

egg crate foam dampens standing waves and cleans up midrange and midbass. depending on the cone (VERY apparent in home audio), it can be a night and day difference in sound. what used to be muddy and fatiguing, is now warm and crisp.

Nice looking box man, deffinitly a fan of the overstuffed couch look! Alpine makes their own grill just for that sub, that takes the place of that rubber beauty gasket that covers up the screws (not sure if its shipped yet though) I'll try and find out some more info for you

and i am a bit worried about people putting their feet in it, and i haul alot of random stuff, so i would like to protect it a little.

how did you hear about this? i couldnt find any alpine grills anywhere. let me know if you find a link or something

why no grill?

and also i am a fairly cabable metal fabricator if you have any ideas for something homeade

PS: yes its a small box... thats the way i wanted it..im not going for SPL here
