12" - Type R vs Type S

What is the main difference between these? I was looking at the MRP-M500 to power one...is it worth the extra $$?

type r can handle around 900w rms.

type s are less power handling and dont get as loud.

i'de rather underpower a type-R than overpower a type-S.

plus, if he wants to, he can get a bigger amp down the road.

They can take way more power then stated. Great SUB! Owned a 12..loved it. Own and am selling my 15..LOVE IT.

I have two r's in a shitty prefab sealed box running just under 500W each and they can get loud with the right music. I'm thinking of changing my setup to 1 type r in a bigger ported box running a true 700W rms. Do you reckon it will be louder than before?
