12" solox not loud, at all.

I recently installed a 12" solo x in a 3.8 cu ft box. I sealed it until I decide to port it. I have it on a PA TT2250D amp. I finished the box tonight and decided to throw it in my trunk. I went out and turned it up only to be disappointed.

The sub sounded terrible. The previous 15" cvr I had in there was a lot louder. Could my box be too big for my trunk? Could the box be too big sealed and it cancels out?

That box is pretty big. How much port area is there? Whats it tuned to? Maybe post a picture of the box.

Might have something wired wrong as well. Double check all that.

That box is WAY too big for a sealed box, and on top of that the solo x shines in a ported box.

Well since you uberfailed by first sealing the solo-x, I'm going to assume you also failed at porting it.

3.8 is a wee bit big for a daily box, but the sound and loudness all depend on the way the sub/port are facing, and what you tuned the port to. My friends 12" solox when we put it in was doing great at 3.6cu.ft tuned at 40hz, in an ext cab S10 was doing a consistant 146db. Good subs, very picky on boxes though.
