12" FI Q Build Log

How much are you giving that Q in terms of RMS watts? Im hoping when I get a 12" Q that it can handle 1600-1800+ RMS watts. Anybody have any input on that, like can it handle that much?

its getting around 800-1000 right now. the amp puts out 1200 at 2 ohms, and the gain is around half way up so ya

im guessing it may handle that, but i would be careful and keep the gain down for a while first:uhoh: lol

PS: Good job on it.

Not trying to knock you or anything, but why would you need to feed an SQ oriented sub so much power? It doesn't need 1600-1800, it loves 1000-1200. The extra db or 2 you'd gain would be irrelevant in a musically oriented setup.

Well, with the Type-R 12" subwoofer I had before I blew it, wasnt reaching my expectations around 1200 watts, and it blew also, sooo I'd like to achieve more watts. Any other input on that?

simply because it sounds like you just wantt to be really loud. the q does get loud, but i dont think it will be as loud as you want. the bl will probably handle more power, arund 1500-1800 like you say you have. anyways, if you need more info start a new thread...or search
