Probably ported, it's much louder, but some subs might lack SQ while being loud, and some subs sound pretty good while loud. IB is more SQ oriented, and won't be as loud, but sound really good.

dB wise, it's all car, power, electrical system and box dependent.

A properly built ported box will be a whole lot louder than an ib setup. IB is for sound quality more than anything else, and to do it properly requires a ton of work and deadener/foam to do it right. Do a good ported box and shell be happy..... on the other hand, an IB setup will use very little of her trunk space compared to a ported box. Maybe you should consider a good 12 in a selaed box, they are smaller than ported boxes, and generally hit harder than an ib setup.

I dont think so... a sub in an ib setup has a lot lower power handling than the same sub in a box, and you have to find a sub that is designed for IB or else you will not like the results. If she liked the tens sealed, then go with a pretty decent 12 with the same power, box will be smaller ( a little) and it should be close in performance.
