$1000 for a system

ok my friend is gettin a 2001 navi for his first car and has a grand for a system....we want some suggestions....we have a 1000 for subs and an amp not head unit....so we want 2 12's or 2 15's that will beat the hell out of anyone in a small town...mostly spl but a lil sq something like 70/30 spl....thinking 2 XXXs or 2 9515s

Audiobahn Flame-Q's are a very good SPL sub. I have a friend with them and they shake cars within a block of them. The Flame-Q SPL is crazy if given enough power. I think it might be tough to get 2 12" XXX's and amps and wires and box for under 1000. i'm not sure how much the XXX's are but I know they are alot.

I think go XXX, ive heard there loud, and still maintain a good amoutn of SQ..

you can't get 2 XXXs amp wires and box for under a g, no way, the subs are roughly 400 a piece box will run you 150, amp good lord at least 300 and wiring in the neighborhood of 50 or so, so yeah, just go 1 12 or 15 xxx adn u will pound still, give it 5 cubes at 32 hz.

yeh, go 1 XXX, youll be DA*N loud with only 1 15" XXX!

if you do go the XXX route.. don't do a box bigger than 4 cubes.. it will sound like bunghole, but in a smaller ported box it should be loud, and maintain a good amount of SQ.

dd 9915. or a dd 9515.

there is always the image dynamics idmax option as well.

9915 will cost a whoooole lot and is best w/lots of power. 9515 is loud as shit in 4cft w/1200watts. id say 9515 or xxx. im not familiar w/the xxx but heard nothing but grace about it and like said before theyre good in 4cft or so. if you wanna go 5cft or more go w/dd other than that, flip a coin

with 1 grand you won't have enough for a pair of good 12"s or 15"s. my suggestion is save up more cash b/c amps will be the expensive part for good amps. pair of IDMAX's can be had for around 500ish so that leave 500 for the amp. i'd look into something like a pair of IDMAX's with a pair of American Bass cx-12's.

dont forget about boxes and wires to.....those always add up, especially if you dont install your system yourself
