1 ohm Stable amps?

Where do i get a 0 db 50 hz sound clip? And yea I was assuming clipping was the reason the sub burnt out so I was wondering if it had to do with my amp being at 1 ohm, it says its 1 ohm stable but would it be safer to run at 2 ohms? or is it just a problem with gains?
It has nothing to do with the ohm load, its because you turned you gain on your amp too high. The gain on the amp is not a volume control.

Please check your voltage at the amp input. I'd guess 12.5 with the car off. And 13.3 on. Then see how much that changes with the system turned up.

most amps are rated at 14.4 volts. At a lower voltage they will put out less watts.

I don't remember the formula for voltage to watts out. (I am on my phone, it is a pain to lookup) You should be able to find this and try it out. It won't tell you if you are clipping. But at least you can know that you are not trying to do 1400 watts with that amp.

edit: this was answered before I posted. oops.

yeah you keep it on AC because the amplifier is converting a DC voltage to AC voltage. The entire reason that a speaker moves in and out is because AC is an alternating current that keeps moving from positive to negative so your sub will see a positive and negative several times per second (depending on the frequency of the pitch being played), which makes the sub go out and in repeatedly.
