1 Grand System

Hey guys, I have about 1,000.00 to spend on a stereo system for my car, I am going to go with 12 inch subs at about 400w each but my problem is I am unsure what the best for the money is at my current cash flow.

I am considering buying a prebuilt fusion subbox with the 2 12 and a 800w amp. I heard the speakers outside of the box on the sound wall and they hit pretty hard. My only question is will they hold up for some time?

My dad is building a torino and he has 6 10s fully powered in the back, he has jl w6s and that thing pumps like crazy! Anyways, was just looking for some insight on that subbox and also if you think I should have my car stereo place install the system or buy the parts and do it myself. Is it hard to do? Thanks and let me know!

Does this include head unit, wire's, front stage, etc??

For sub stage I would look around on here. I believe there is a Sundown 1500 for sale. Then maybe pick up a Fi Q 12 or 15.

There some nice Kicker 1/0 gauge amp kits on Ebay for like 90 bucks that will cover that.

pioneer subs are very underrated, get some pioneer premier championship series subs, they are like $50 each on sonicelectronix.com

knukonceptz you can get the amp kit, and all the wiring and accessories for under $100

depending on the subs, get a good amp that puts out either 1000rms @ 1 ohm, or 1000rms @ 4 ohm (be kinda hard) if you get the 1000rma @ 1 ohm, be sure the subs are dual 4 ohm.

depending on your location too, you can have a custom box built for you for a good price.

radio you can get the alpine 9885, you can find a used on on here for cheap. just be sure the seller has a lot of refs.

Hmm, well I really want new parts as it is my first system and don't want to run into any problems... Warranty's and such if possible! I am able to buy all the components I need brand new for under 1 grand... My only problem is should I buy them and build it myself or buy them and have the local car stereo place do it for $120.00

I think I have decided I want these components:

Fusion Encounter 800W 12" x 2 Bass Box

Sony - 6" x 9" 3-Way Car Speakers with HOP Woofer Cone (Pair)

Alpine - Type-S 5" x 7" 2-Way Coaxial Car Speakers with Poly-Mica Cones (Pair)

Alpine - 45W x 4 Apple® iPod®-Ready CD Deck

KCE-422i Ipod Cable

And of course the wiring and all thats needed :p

Anyways, I believe the in dash unit will allow me to power the 5x7s and 6x9 plenty since it doesn't need to be terribly loud just so you can hear it right? I heard the Sony 6x9 at best buy and these things can kick it out like you never heard. Only speakers I have ever heard that are better are my dads dynaudios but dynaudio doesn't make speakers in these sizes.

Now that you can see the actual speakers and in dash unit I want can someone help me with which correct wires to get and everything?

It turns out I got a guy over yonder who is willing to install the system with me, he used to work for Custom Sounds and he knows what he is doing but I thought id get all the speakers and wires ordered so we can start on Saturday!

Please help me, I have a 1994 Lincoln, what sorta wires do I need? Also should I pick up a capacitor?

Thanks for the suggestions bud! After I build my first system I may start doing some side jobs for others to build there systems or go work for bestbuy or custom sounds and build some for a while. I just want to do everything by the book for this first one!

Ok, well people tried to steer you away from that stuff. You can get A MUCH BETTER system for $1,000 than what you have listed above. I am not a expert in any area, but many people on here are. The one thing I can say is install it yourself because it will save you a ton of money. Also, watch out for the lower in Alpine decks, the last two I have had, really screwed with my sound qaulity. I'd look towards a Kenwood Exceleron. Crutchfield has a great deal on one for under $170 right now.

Go with 6 1/2 or 5 1/4 speakers, they will fit you just have to make a bracket for them out of wood or buy some Metra ones for $15. The overall sound will be better. If you decide to go with coaxials and power them off the headunit, get bass blockers to put inline so you can filter out the lows and not damage your speakers.

Anyways, listen to what these people say because I wouldnt pay $200 for what you listed above.

def scratch sony and 6x9" off ur list get 6.5 and the adapter plates 12 buck off ebay and put component set in front and if u must have it rear fill in the back

alpine or pioneer h/u is a safe bet

as far as sub stage goes i personally think u can get a lot better stuff for cheap that will last longer and sound better

ya look on ebay you can get 2 alpine type rs with warrenty from most dealers, youll spend maybe 250 on the pair and trust youll be happy

only thing u listed thats decent is the alpine deck.

u may also want to check out ficaraudio.com and look into some ssd's theyll slam off 1000 watts

amp look into hifonics brutus lines on ebay. for about 200 ull get a good amp.

Hey guys, thanks all for the suggestions and I may end up doing some of that but I heard these 6x9s and was completley blown away.... The midbase they have is simply awesome I could put 4 of those in my car and not even need a sub, I challenge all of you to go to best buy and tune the system in with those and crank it without a sub on. I gurantee you will be blown away for the price //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

But with that said I may look into a different head unit but I don't want to spend over 200.00 for that unless its reall important for better sound? What about a sony headunit? I had one of those on a sububan before and that system sounded great but it had no sub.... Suggestions? I can buy it from anywhere so just tell me the best on to get that is atleast 50x4 so I don't have to buy a seperate amp for the front speakers. I know thats best but cant fork out the cash for that right now.

I will be installing it myself as I said the guy I know worked at custom sounds for 2 years and installed hundreds of systems so he is the right guy. Thanks much!

I really think you need to take some time and research on this forum or your going to waste a grand and end up buying good stuff anyway.
