Hey guys, I guess I sorta had my mind made up about the subs yes... But everything else I am open to suggestions if the price is not to steep... Money doesn't grow on trees unfortunetly...

So I guess list to me the best 5x7s and 6x9s THEY MUST BE THOSE SIZES and I refuse to believe no one makes a decent speaker in those sizes...

Im set on the bass as I have listened to them myself and think they will do the job for me. Please continue to share your insight on the rest though as I like to learn!

About $400.00 for the fusion subbox with 2 12s and a 800 watt amp. When you listen to speakers in a store, remember that they are in sealed boxes running off an amp. They will not sound like that in your car. Sure you can find speakers that will sound OK in that size, but what everyone is trying to tell you is A DECENT COMPONENT SET WILL SOUND BETTER THAN ANY SPEAKER YOU GET IN THAT SIZE!

My personal opinion: Clear everything you think you know out of your head (especially the sub stage you have your heart set on) and start over asking questions and taking the suggestions you are getting here.

I threw this together for you..

Head Unit: Alpine 9886, Eclipse CD3200 $300 or $280 shipped

Front stage: Phoenix Gold RSD 6.5's $87 shipped new on Ebay

Sub stage: Fi Audio SSD 12 with copper coils $194 shipped from there site

Sub amp: PG RSD 1200.1 $265 shipped from Ebay

Front amp: There is a JL300/2 on here for $175 shipped or you could find something equal i'm sure.

There thats right at a grand!! And will be much better than what you want to buy.

Note: you will have to roll some change for wire's and dynamat or an equal.

Hey dude, this head unit you mentioned... Does it have 50x4 meaning I don't have to buy a seperate amp? That will really save me some dough if it did and if it does would it still sound decent with some decent front speakers? Thanks for your help!

Well, if you can recommened a subbox with 2 12s with a 800 watt amp for the same kind of money id be more then happy to take a listen and check that out. Im mainly doing it because of the strapped funds, I want at least 2 subs I think it looks dorky opening up the trunk to see one speaker sitting there, unless its like a 15 or w/e but to me the 15s are sloppy. So please suggest something prebuilt thats better with that kinda price.

What exactly is a component set? I have seen other sized speakers mentioned on this thread but didnt catch when anyone called them a component set, care to explain?

It looks cool to open up a trunk and see a small 8 or 10 sitting back there thats louder than someons 2-12"s. Not to mention the space you'd save on the box.

When talking about space I agree but for my personal tastes I prefer seeing two back there so I do have that requirement. I am willing to rethink subs if I can stay under 400.00 with brand new stuff.

I am looking at all the enclosed subwoofer sets you can get online and kicker seems to have a large selection, are they any good guys?

its been mentioned. you just arent listening. And if the one sub sounds better then a 2 sub setup what difference does it make?

go to http://www.ficaraudio.com and look at there speakers.

And please dont buy a prefab box, and for 400 bucks for 2 12s, box and amp you are getting ripped.

My 15" has the "tightest" bass I've heard thus far, and I've installed quite a few "systems" in the last 3 years. You have your mind made up, so I'm not even going to try and convince you that the Fusions will disappoint once you've heard a real "system".

I know there are a lot of members on here from Texas; perhaps you could find one near you and have a listen to their stereo and then you might learn to listen to others' suggestions. It sounds to me like you're 16, so naturally you know everything, however there are quite a few record holders on this site (both SPL and SQ) and they have been doing this for quite some time. Take some time to read a bit before challenging us to be "blown away" by Sony.

As far as looking "dorky", nobody ever says my one sub looks "dorky" when they hear it. It's more like "holy shit, you're only running 1 sub???".

Next question: What is your fascination with prebuilt? For $20 you can get a sheet of MDF and make the box yourself and save quite a bit of money.
