02 Chevy Tahoe question ASAP

I'm doing a headunit install in it. There's a couple of harnesses in it. Looks like the guy I'm installing it for has the main harness adapter, but there's a little one he doesn't have the adapter for. What's the little adapter for. I'm wondering if it will work without it.

You need a GMOS 01 harness in order for that to work. Does the car have bose or onstar?

I'm not sure which harness it is. He has the main connector. I'm guessing the smaller one is to make the rear passenger controls work, but I'm not sure. That's the one I'm wondering about. I don't believe he has Onstar. No on bose.

Ok well he is going to have to get the (MET-GMOS 04) harness in order for it to work. He will lose the rear controls as well, becuase they will not interface with the aftermarket radio. You need to get this harness or he will lose his door chimes, (oil life, and tire pressure readouts) and his onstar.
