'01 Mustang GT Install Questions

My neighbor has a 2001 mustang im gonna be helping him do an install on soon and ive got a few questions for other installers that have done installs in them. First question - is the mach system worth a **** as far as SQ goes? I heard him playing it before and it sounded decent i thought, but i havent actually heard it inside the car. Is it as simple as getting the mach interface harness and installing the radio? I know theres not much room in the trunk. Im thinking for the substage either do 2 10s sealed, 1 12 ported, or 1 15 ported on 5-600wrms, or maybe an IB setup if i can talk him into it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif Feel free to add your opinions/suggestions too. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The Mach system is complete crap. You're going to need a lot of deadening. The doors and rear deck/trunk are utter rattle traps. I finally found a fricken rattle that had been driving me nuts-the driver's side C-pillar panel is rattling. I have deadened and used expanding foam and these cars still rattle. Tear the whole 460 out. The rear speakers and amp rack will severly limit your trunk space too so just tear it all out and don't bother with rear speakers. I want to do an IB setup too, but no time. I ran 2 10" Type Rs sealed for a while, before I found this site and realized Type-Rs do best ported, but 2 10" SSA Icons would sound really good. Then I had my RL-p ported and that sounded good and on most music was as loud as my 2 10s, but I lost that punchy sealed box bass. To do 1 15 ported, you will need to build the box in the car or do a wall/rear seat delete. The trunk opening is miniscule. I'd go with 2 10s sealed again. Or 4 8s sealed. Smaller subs are just easier to work with in these cars and get plenty loud. But again, pull the whole 460 system out, run a set of 6.5 comps in front with the tweeters on the A-pillars aimed towards the windshield or on the kick panels aimed towards the dome light. Don't run the tweeters in the factory 460 location; too harsh and you'll never get a proper stage or imaging. Trust me I've tried with various tweeters...Let me know if you need any more help!
