0 ohm...

The old PG amps were "stable" into a dead short. You could just about weld with them. Not too sure about the R series Orions. It would try to put out a sick amount of power and would probably do so for a few moments until either the amp thermaled and shut itself off, or the power supply blew. I would have my money on the latter.

if you want to bust out some calculus... the limit as x (loads in parallel) approches infinity is 0 ohms.... you'll never get to 0 ohms. even in a short circuit there is still a point zero something ohm load. the closest thing to 0 resistance is a superconductor, and i highly, highly, highly, highly doubt that anybody has a superconductor in their car, or an amp that could withstand 0 ohms... unless all of the circuitry in the amp was superconductive... lol. but then, no alternator could recharge a battery fast enough either. its all rediculous

I can't beleive that the hang-up that you guys have is not about the stability of the amp but about the existance of 0 ohms. You can get close enough to 0 for all practical purposes with a dead short with large guage wire and the amp will probably not survive the experience. Yes that amp is good and over built and hella stable, but dead short? Ummm, I don't think so. I've seen too many dead HCCA's on eBay. I have a bunch of good ones, but they have their limits and because of the design of the amp, and its purpose in life, protection circuitry would just limit its effectiveness.

If that auction was the worst example of idiocy in selling and ridiculous claims made by people who know dick about car audio, then I might be slightly concerned, but this doesn't even scratch the surface.

I like to stick my tung on the pos and neg at the same time
OK, don't laugh, but about 7 years ago I was stripping the speaker wires coming off my PPI A1200 and holy zapp! I was so used to doing that with smaller amps and feeling nothing that I didn't think about the major current running through my A1200. Yes, I had the volume up while sticking the wire in my mouth. It was a long time ago.

pi$$ing on electric fence isn't to bad, what is fun it taking a "hot shot", provides enough voltage to make even stubborn cattle move, and seeing who can place it on thier arm or anything else the longest. I live on a ranch, hech we are crazy out here
