0 ohm...

you can reach 0 ohm. I would say if you didn't hook up a speaker that would be 0 ohm.

If you are trying to reach 0 ohm with different voice coils on a woofer, then no it's impossible.

if u have a 4 ohm woofer, then parallel it with another you get 2 ohms, then another 2 woofoers you would get 1 ohm then 4 more woofers you would get 1/2 ohm, then 1/4 then 1/8 then 1/16th etc, keep following that patter and you will never reach zero. With a crapload of woofer you could get pretty friggin close though.

Not hooking anything up would be infinite resistance, not zero.

The closest thing to zero ohms would be a big fat piece of power wire connecting the pos's to the neg's. And I'd bet most of my life savings the amp would either go up in smoke or protect itself almost instantly.

no matter how huge a wire you can connect to the pos and neg, it will have atleast some tiny amount of resistance except if its a super-conductor, a material at some temperature with actually zero resistance

hmm...maybe he means the amp is stable for ANY ohm load? Think about it...if you have 'n' resistors connected in parallel, the load gets smaller and smaller. So the limit as 'n' goes to infinity is 0. doubt it though.

Zero ohms would mean no resistance in the electrical circuit. Not possible. If we could reach an operational zero ohm impedance we would have invented the prepetual motion motor by now. It is not possible.

Nope, won't happen. Even a dead short shows a little tiny bit of resistance from the metal contact points. a 0ohm load would infact be a perect transfer of power with no resistance what so ever. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i'm no engineer but i know there's no such thing as 0 ohms. WOn't happen. Resistance makes the world go round. :p

The lowest I ever heard of amps dropping was 0.25ohms, which, by my definition, is already hardly any resistance at all anymore.

but what if he just means the limit is 0, meaning, it'll never hit 0, but will come closer and closer to it - like an asymptote.

bah- calculus is over, why am I still thinking about it...

asymptote, thos things go on forever, so i'm pretty sure they wouldn't put something like that on an amp, the amp would have to be hugh, just because of all the divisons of power, it'd be like a big ass transformer in your car
