    RCA and remote question *PIC*

And to think, I always thought is was a remote wire (thats what the packaging said it was), but used it in the manner you describe to help reduce the possibilty of ground loop problems

    Pioneer DEH-P41 (help!)

IF he adjusted teh balance to the left, and the "Right" control is no longer working, the only option will be to remove power from the deck for a minute or so and reset it back to factory defaults. However, without the "Right" control function, it may be difficult to re-setup the deck fro...

2002 Sunfire Installation & PassLock II

Maybe it's the class II data bus.... The GM techs at the local dealership called it a PassLock II, probably the same thing. Any idea where I could get a harness for that cheap. Everywhere I've looked so far it's $100+

How to select the proper fuse size

Please explain how my post makes me an idiot. **An amplifier with an RMS output of 120 watts has a Peak output of ~180 watts.** There is no way around this. Using the formulas given above: 120 Watts / 12 volts = 10 Amps 180 Watts / 12 volts = 15 Amps All of a sudden, Our system has the...

    can this drop voltage?

Do you mean you ran the 2-gauge to the A3000db, and then 4-gauge from teh A3000db to the D-Block? While this does work and shouldn't cause any problems, it is considered a sin in the Car Audio World. And yes it will result in a very small, almost immeasurable voltage drop. _ Every connection...

    RCA and remote question *PIC*

That wire is designed to be used for a remote wire. Most that I've seen though, run the remote wire beside the RCA's, not between

    Deep cycle vs. regular

Basically and probably most importantly: Regular Car Batteries, also known as Starting Batteries, are designed to put out a ton of Amperage (~1000 Amps) in quick bursts ( Deep Cycle Batteries are designed to put out Low to Moderate Amperage in for long periods of Time, and can be recharged...

How to select the proper fuse size

Just a quick note. You should use the Peak Wattage values of your Amplifiers, Not the RMS values. Peak is always higher than RMS, so when your Amps reach their Peak Output, they will blow a fuse rated to handle the RMS value

2002 Sunfire Installation & PassLock II

I've searched google, msn, about 5 different forums, and also asked my local GM dealership and cannot find a definitive answer to these questions My sunfire has just a stock AM/FM radio - I didn't care because I knew I'd be upgrading the sound system eventually. 1. Do all 2002 Sunfire's use...

IR remote - Electronics experts help!!

Thank-you for changing the original text of your message. My response was so that anyone else who happens to read this OLD thread doesn't think his mis-information is accurate. I was really quite surprised to get an email from the Caraudio forum mailer as I haven't visited this site in almost...

IR remote - Electronics experts help!!

Actually, that is not correct. RF remotes can be quite small in size. I've seen/owned several rf controlled devices and the remotes have been no larger than an equivilant IR remote. Bell Express-vu makes an RF remote for their Satellite systems that is just a slightly modified version of the...

caps - what do they do or what do they supposedly do?

Take a volt meter and measure the Voltage at the Amplifier. Take the measurement while playing music that will make your Amp drive the hardest (in this case I'd guess subs). If the voltage drops below 12.6 volts then a cap will possibly help.

use external fuse and bypass internal fuse

Yeah, I kinda figured. Its the risk you take buying used equipment...... Ah well, only cost me $250 CDN thats not too bad.

use external fuse and bypass internal fuse

Well, I replaced the fuses with some 30A, and I now know why the 40A blew... As soon as the 30's were in and power reconnected, I saw smoke from the Amp and the fuses blew. Sounds like a dead short somewhere.

use external fuse and bypass internal fuse

I have an Amplifier with two 40-AMP ATO-style fuses. These fuses are wired parallel inline with the Battery terminal. I would like to bypass these two fuses (as I cannot get any 40-AMP ATO style fuses within 500KM of my home), and replace them with a single 80-AMP fuse. My first thoughts were...
