Help with box design

The enclosure itself is actually the musical instrument, much more so than the subwoofer is.. I think people kinda look at it from a backwards perspective sometimes.
Its easy to overthink sub enclosures and installs. Even ground pounders... why get cute? Its output oriented so don't trap the sound.
Sq is even worse because audible delay can turn a friendly judge into just your fren... haha... Dave
Doing the frontstage solid and designing around what you have is key for sq. Localization and fidelity up front sure made me spend a few bux along the way, then I went to pure output. Either spl or lows /w/ extension.
Now I rock a single 12 compR on a 1000w micro amp at 2 ohms /w/ deck powered hi's.
Competing against the champ opened my eyes in sq. Mine sounded great but Earl's BMW was next level and I couldn't justify the expenditure to try to compete. It was hopeless. So I took a break and tried again but this time Spl.
I think he had concrete deadening his subs up front somehow... who knows

I never got into SQ. I just like break your face bass. SQ is cool still but not in a car for me. It's a car, you know. When I think of SQ I think of home audio and organs in a cathedral.

What I did with my old delta 88 (and I'll do with my current one)remove the insulation pad behind the rear seat (not sure if Cadillac does this too or not. It's there to quiet trunk noise inside the cabin. I also cut out the rear deck and covered it with speaker cloth (like on hone speaker grills) as close of a match as I could find to te stock color. Once I did those 2 things my subs came alive in the cabin. No box will replace opening up a way in for the bass.

My old '82 delta was 3 18's sealed, my current '85 delta will be 2 15's in a trunk baffle.

I like big time bass but I absolutely hate screeching mids and highs 🤣🤣🤣

I prefer that 38-50hz painful Spl bass. The kind that'll make you tap out brown note style. Ima rock guy.

Lower bass gets rowdy and all, I posted a video recently of a young girl hairtricking on a pair of 15's, no way I'd expose her to that violent spl bass.

That video was over 154db but LOW and looked impressive and all but was not that skull cracking bass I love.. I've sat in 159db from a single 18 and I'd never expose a child to that.

I like lows because they're more soothing in a way, but I know what you mean too. Idk just depends, it's all fun really.

160 in a king cone low tuned setup is violent make no mistake but I've torn strikers out of doorjambs and replaced windshields with far less equipment.
I'm a less is more guy and cringe when I know its going to kill the vehicle in the long run. Walls and all are cool but become tiresome with use. Blowing people away and tapping them out with a pair of 12's is another thing.
And yes... it is all fun. Especially once the vehicle owner and designer are on the same page goals-wise.

Funny you mention that. After losing a competition to a certain red BMW I approached the winner and got a demo. His choice of music leaned toward large venue orchestra. I had never heard a system utilizing tube amps or dual 13"subs up front before. The warmth, echoes and sustain in the music I think from the tube amps were haunting and gave scope to the music with even the timpani echoing off the back of the venue yet localized solid impact center stage.

With mids and tweeters that actually rose up out of the dash I understood what I was up against. The impact from the bass was up front but the amps gave everything depth... I digress. Its impossible to explain.

Multiple time SQ world champion vehicle and I was 24 and broke... haha

I had like 5G invested and said enough was enough
