Im gonna be running 2 12 inch sundown audio sa v3 subs on a taramp smart 3k amp and my mids and highs on a small 4 channel amp..i keep hearing that if i upgrade my alt to get the 250 amp alt because it is more efficient at lower idle than the bigger alternators..is this true or should i go bigger..my trip to work is only about 7 miles and the speed limit the whole way is 35-45…which alternator do i need and which agm setup do i need? I currently have a 160 amp alt in my jeep wrangler

It would be best to consult with an automotive electrical expert or an audio specialist for specific alternator and AGM battery recommendations tailored to your setup.

How is it operating now? I run 3 amps, 2 subs, 8 speakers, and I have a 135 amp factory alternator. No issues at all. My only problem occurred several months ago when I cut my car off and continued to play the stereo for about 15 minutes. When I tried to start the car, I got the dreaded click, click, click. LOL

Many years ago, I had a 2007 Mustang base with a 100 amp alternator and far less amp draw; and I would experience some headlight dimming. Consult with an expert and don't purchase equipment that you don't need.

Look up the specifications of all your equipment to see what they estimate the amp draw to be. Total them up, and that will give you a good idea of what your minimum alternator size needs to be.

2 Sav3 12's on a smart 3? I surely wouldn't leave it stock. I'd upgrade the underhood battery to an Agm and install another Agm close to the amp /w/ a 250A alt minimum if it was me. That ought to be plenty and allow for some serious usage.
I'd be sure all your interconnect is sufficient as well.
