I am currently hunting down the best option for the power cable from the front of the Equinox to the cargo area. Can't decide on brand or size. It will be Tinned OFC because I am running it under the vehicle. I want to use cable intended for car audio use and or marine audio use. I don't want to use welding cable. I can use 1/0awg because the length won't be crazy long. I am estimating 15-18ft max. Power is going to be getting up there I guess. The JP13, RF Punch 500x2 and Punch 400x4. I have the JP630 supercapacitor bank. I will upgrade the alternator and do the big 3-4. What do you think... run some 2/0 tinned ofc front to back? I would like to run an Orange cable. Similar to how hybrid cars high power cables are orange. Of course red and black on the interior of the car. What brand should I go with???

I'm curious about that flat ofc on ebay but xs flex has my vote if you want tinned.

I used some of the grey nvx wire in the back of my saturn. If was pretty flexible and felt like it had a good jacket on it

In the past when I ran under a vehicle, I used 1" PVC Pipe under the vehicle to run the wire in. Secure to the frame. 90 degree elbow at the end

I am just paranoid of the shielding chaffing and getting a short. Inside the PVC its nice and protected

You and me both brother. The last time I ran on the outside of the vehicle was a 1995 Grand Cherokee. Plenty of room for running cable along the frame.

I am settling in a bit. I just ordered 20ft of orange OFC cable for the Equinox. Marine rated, double jacketed. GP car audio. While I was there I ordered a six pack of 1/0 lugs with orange heat shrink also GP car audio. $140 for a single cable run and copper lugs. Gotta start this install somewhere. This will be the main run from the front to the back under the car from the battery to the JP630 lithium bank then split to the amplifiers. Twill be fused at the battery under the hood and just before the JP630 then before each amp appropriately. Inside the cab will be traditional red and black power cables.

I'm getting fancy now. I ordered the clamps and bushings to run the cables under the Equinox. I think I am going to do a dual run of 1/0 power cable. I wanna do something different.

Nah, it's going to be secured with those clamps and self tapping screws. Plus, it looks cool seeing big cables under the car. I never had an issue on the Grand Cherokee and I took that off the beaten path more than once. I am going to order the second run of 1/0 cable today. I will run them side by side all the way down the frame rails.

My only question to everyone is both 1/0 cables will start at the same location (battery) and end at the same terminal on the JP630 capacitor bank. I am fusing both cables (300a) should do it. Do I fuse each cable then with a 150a fuse totaling 300a or both cables fused with 300a fuses?

I always fuse the power wires based on carrying capacity to prevent failure...power wire failures can get really ugly

The new subs are on THE way. Not that the RF Punch P3D4 10's are slacking or tired but I wanted brand new again and this time bought together, not 2 years apart. I will be running the JP13 sub amp so I wanted 1,000w rms subs and found them in the CT Sounds Tropo XL's. Dual 4 ohm 10's and will be at 1ohm. The JP13 will be right at home on them backed up by the JP630.

The front is still going to be 3-way active. Earthquake, DD, DD.
