2000 Camry Build

Massive is lower quality compared to others out there. Entry level stuff imho. Yeah I would tend to agree with the installer. Heck I would go Taramps over them any day of the week. The DSP is good, the sub amplifier is good.

The better question is what brand does he sell? I once did the same thing, called a shop about Focal comps, he said they are crap and recommended the type Rs they sold.

Massive Audio is a decent line.. have not had any issues at all.. that being said, if your strictly looking into SQ setup, then I would be looking above Massive.. Massive is a great every day style line, but there are others that concentrate more on the SQ side of things. For the money, and for your setup they are right there with others. Full bridge Taramps have their own issue (overheating on the non smart non bass specific uses) as well as limited output contrary to stats when you use their cheaper non BASS or Smart models. They are pretty inflexible on voltage fluctuation as well (as are most cheap-er fullbridge designs). regardless of the output. The "better" taramps are starting to cost as much as their Korean Half bridge counterparts. Lose the lower cost, then you lose one of their strongest selling points.

Taramp 4 channel amplifiers have a good reputation above massive. I've never heard of any of them overheating. Still better then massive. Massive is entry level compared to those out there. Even the newer Soundstream 4 channels are made in Korea and better for the cost. Pioneer 4 channels are around 240 as well.

Easiest way to put it, what you are buying these days is most likely one of the following :

Full chinese
Korean style board Chinese made
Korean
Brazilian

If you buy an amp that is Chinese made, regardless of the brand, it’s going to be from the same few factories. This also goes for Korean amps, and Brazilian amps. None of these offerings would I consider even remotely close to high end. The Chinese made stuff is the lowest quality, the Korean amps are better but aren’t spectacular and are expensive. The Brazilian amps you can’t run the voltage low or they can fail and the onboard Xovers tend to be crap (if not using them this isn’t an issue).

That's a serious oversimplification, seriously.
