Electrical upgrades questions

I mean I like that cab 22 but it's all up to you.
Set the gains properly and you can run any size amp. Just don't push it so hard your dipping low 11s or something. Get a volt meter and wire it to the amps pos neg so you can monitor how much voltage the amps getting.
What would I use to set the gains properly where I know I won’t push it to hard for my electrical. If I can go with the bigger amp and be fine with it that would be the best option so I can atleast upgrade jt later .

For starters use the volt meter and you'll see where your volts start dipping. You push pass that point and the amp will clip if it's getting low volts in. A lot of amps come with bass knobs that have dummy clipping lights on them. If you light up the clipping amp on one of those you're a few ticks passed where you should be. Do some Googling about setting amp gains. YouTube has it in every language

Okay so I’m good to go ahead and get the Taramps as long as don’t push it to hard right? what do you think about these amps I’ve seen a lot of ppl talk about them, thanks so much for answering these questions man

I've heard really good things about them.
I've heard other people don't want to run them cuz they're more sensitive than Koreans or half bridge.
I'm pretty sure they're one of the cheapest price per watt with mostly good reviews.
Ps the last component to setting your gains is how much your subs can handle. If you feel them getting warm after a song ease up on em. If you smell voice coils burning at any point TURN IT DOWN lol

Is having the gain right or a little lower than Normal gonna help keep my voltage up form hitting them 11’s? Or is that all dependent on my electrical

Depends what "normal" gain is. Stereo signal power varies, that's why we have a gain setting. You could turn it down far enough that it never even moves the voltage. Bouncing around the upper 13s is fine. Dipping into 12 is pretty capped out and 11s should only be seen if your pushing to the limit for a brief moment.
I guess that's the way I've done it with a less than adequate alt. I mean your Batts see 11s when they start the car so 🤷 you'll have to play around with it

I also currently don’t have the big 3 don’t so if I put in the taramps smart 3 in now will it mess anything up since I have normal sized wires or am I good to go ahead and put it in

You might see better voltage after a big 3. Depends what size the stock alt is and what size the stock wire is coming off it. Try to at least inspect your power wire from alt and grounds from battery. Make sure you have a very solid ground at the amp. 3k is nothing to joke with. Modern prices make them widely available but 3k is a ton of power for most systems/ vehicles/ people who don't have a lot of experience. Make sure you use a fuse on your power wire.
I'm not an expert or a professional I'm a 10 year amateur lol. Have you ordered the amp? If you have time between you could get beefy power wire from a welding shop.

Haven’t ordered the amp but plan to ASAP

have not ordered the amp yet but play to ASAP , for the big 3 do I need to replace the current wires or just add extra 1/0 on top of the stock wiring, and do you think the taramps
Smart is a good choice for the 2 xfl 10”s

Technically you can do it either way with the big 3. It'll look cleaner if you replace the wires with 0 gauge and wrap it in loom. I usually don't feel bad about extra wires. I recently helped someone in a hurry and replaced a broken wire to body metal but added new ground wires from battery to block and block to frame, so everything meets back at the block closest to the alternator. He had serious voltage drop just from rolling windows down cuz his grounds were shit on a 05 avalanche. Now it stays pretty steady with a 2k amp and one yellow top.
There's a lot of amps that will fit your needs.
Personally I'd buy a cab 22. Bobby would buy a Taramps.
Taramps have come a long way with their "smart" stuff.
Spend some extra time researching the amps and the difference between Korean, Chinese, and Brazilian boards as well as half bridge vs full bridge.
Or just buy the thing and smile while the bass bumps

What do you like better about the cab 22 vs the taramps? I know the cab22 plays more than rated but so should the taramps if I had the electrical I assume , would it be the build quality?

I've wanted to try one since they came out with the red ones.
I also prefer the beefyness of a half bridge amp. Cabs thumbnail for their amp is a gut pic. Attached
I tried to find a gut pic of the taramps but it's mostly just YouTube videos so I threw in what I could find really quick.
I'm not fully educated in half bridge vs full bridge myself so I can't speak much further on the subject, I would love to buy and test both of these amps but that's not very realistic.

I see what you mean that cab 22 looks to have way better quality

It's primarily the difference between how full and half bridge are built. Full bridge can be waayy more compact and still do rated power. But if anything got a little wonky I guess I'd trust the huge amp to endure more torture. Not 100% sure, I can't speak factually since I don't own either one of these

Okay I gotchu . I’m kinda leaning towards the taramps because of the “smart” features apparently it won’t let you overdraw current and will throttle back(I have no clue what that means) or go into protect mode to save itself . I don’t know if the cab 22 has any safety features but I do like the smart ability for the taramps and the really high wattage if I had proper electrical but it does seem the cab22 has better build quality. Thanks for all the map help man it’s greatly appreciated
