Okay so I'm looking at about 12 cubes net to work with in a SUV and want to hear from others with suv experience what they preferred to run and why.

For something different and freaky I could run 6 12s in 2 cubes each which would be the most surface area and coil to work with. A thought. Looks like this would be more surface area for the 12 cubes but less excursion. Less power compression is always good. Heard a stupid loud 612s setup on only 3k, 500 w to each sub.

I'm sure there is some monster 21 out there that would be happy in 12 cubes and have a gigantic motor and destroy the lows, also interesting. Talkin to the owner at Pierce audio he was very helpful and I was very impressed with their 21-inch options.

Probably what I'm most attracted to is the 2 18s option. I have heard 2 18s in a SUV and definitely was pretty serious. Incriminator audio death rows and DC audio level 3s look great to me w this option.

While 4 15s technically would work they would still be on the lower end of air space requirements and hard fitment issues to deal with running a sub and Port up box.

Anyone with experience running different subwoofer sizes and setups in SUVs feel free to give your recommendations and opinions!

6 12's. Motor force and cone area (general statement).
Man I'm really thinking about that route after hearing one of those setups. Iv just always loved to run multiples!!!
A cooler sub is always going to perform better and more SD is always better.
Plus , it would be so different!!!
I definitely have the room as well because the box can easily be adapted to take advantage of the lower storage compartment adding another 2 cubes minimum. Looks like I'll get the SUV in the next month or two and I'll hit you up buck no doubt.

4-12's. Your net is going to go down after sub and port displacement.
Appreciate you looking out for me Bobby and your right if I wasn't going to use the additional large compartment space below the floor that will give me an easy two cubes additional just adapting the box on the bottom to fit into it.
That will get me to 14.6 cubes gross and be enough for them. I usually like to run my ported enclosures in about the middle of the volume recommendations so it's not over or under dampened as I like all different types of jams. How are you liking that awesome 4 8s set up you have in your truck that was clean as hell bro

Well now you are changing you parameters. 4-AB HD15's could get you close to 160 if built right. The Hippo XLR's are no joke either. The 8's are still hittin'. We did a 148.9 @ 31 hz. last week. I'm upgrading from an 18 ah bank of Lishen lithium to a 40 ah bank of XS Power this week. We're also installing a new mids/highs amp (Crescendo S4) and some new Deaf Bonce 6-½" mids in the doors that will be replacing the 6-½" Infinity Kappa coaxials.

I've seen and felt 4 AB HD15's top 160. $1,300.

I’ve ran a ton of subs in my Jeep Patriot and I’m having a hard time telling what I like best. 8s, 10s and 12s ive used so far in this vehicle and I’ve liked all of them for music. Im having a 15 built for me now that I’m trying next, but I already know I will like it. I’m leaning towards doing 1 really nice 15 inch sub for my daily music setup and a box with 8 lower power 10s on 3k just to meter with. I’ve also found that it seems to be louder with sub up port back orientation, but I like the actual sound of music better with the same subwoofers when both sub and port are rear fired, so I will likely do sub up port back on the 10s for metering and sub and port back on my daily music enclosure.

Additinally, no need to reference "max" anything as those specs are useless. Most of know how to look at specs for a given speaker, amp, HU, etc...

That’s the little single 6.5 inch enclosure. The Savard did just as well as the RDS. These subs do well in ported or 6th orders but not as well...

Look at the Alpine Type S subs.
