I miss my 12's

Sonicelectronix isn't playing about shipping my amplifier to me quickly. FedEx shows expected delivery by the end of the day Wed. Nice.

When I had my 12's in my ZJ they hit very low but they also hit the high bass notes. My P3 10's are hitting low and loud but they are not hitting the high bass notes like my bigger 12's did. Now, I think I know why or I suspect why. In the Jeep I had my head unit directly into an Alpine MRV-F545 which I still have in the closet and an Alpine MRX-M100 all directly to their respective speakers. In my current setup it's HU - DSP - Amps - Speakers. In the DSP I have the subs crossed at 65hz. In REW the subs are about 12db above the midbass - mids and highs in a narrow band from 20hz to 65hz then they slope down @ 24db Link/Riley into the midbass. It sounds like I am turning off the sub-bass on the higher notes like a light switch when listening to bass music like Bass Boy or Quad Maximus. I really miss the upper bass I used to get.

Please tell me it is the way I have them crossed over, gained and EQ'd as to why I hit a brick wall with the upper sub-bass.

On a side note. As I slowly unleash the pair of P3's they are getting busy and seem to like being in that enclosure just fine.

I knew a guy with a JBL 1000 watt 12" and it was properly loud and punchy. Old design now...

Never owned JBL, but I would definitely have a go with a few of these for fun.

So what amp is it
I didn't want to mention it out loud (because they aren't what they used to be) but its the Soundstream Rubicon Nano (Marine Version) MR4.1400D.

There is a reason I got it. I love the look of the amp but... I have decided to see if I need to repair the US Acoustics amp and if so, I will have it repaired and put back in the car. I am also really really REALLY curious to see if the rubicon nano will do rated (135w x 4) or how close it will get. To me, this amp design is externally one of the coolest cosmetic designs imo. The non marine, blue chassis is even sexier. We will see. I had the extra cash, I was bored, there it was so I bought one. If something breaks I will often buy a temp replacement until I can get something better. The Soundstream is just that, a temp replacement... maybe.

It is a good looking amp and actually has some options that you don’t usually see in cheap 4 channel amps. I would assume with the fusing that it might do rated? Or at least get somewhat close. One would hope at least

That's what I am hoping. I have seen amp dynos on Soundstreams of slightly similar specs doing rated so fingers crossed. I am gonna post gut shots too as I can not find ANY of the nano series on the web. Which might help some more educated amplifier gurus determine if the potential is there for rated or more.... or less lol.

You’re right about Atlanta. Every package that goes there is automatically delayed. Probably hard to work around all the “extra” ballots lol

Well then... I know why my bass music hits a wall on the high bass. Its the way I have it set up. My JBL 12's were crossed over at 120hz with no DSP. My current 10's are crossed at 65hz and play up to... 65hz then drops off sharply. I just put tracks from Bass Boy's album in Audition and analyzed the bass frequencies. Typical range is mid 30hz - 110hz with the majority of the upper bass being betwixt 60 - 112hz. So I am missing SO much bass it's ridiculous. My silverflutes couldn't cover 60 - 112hz at the volume of my subs if their lives depended on it.

What I am going to do is cross my P3's up to 120. Re-EQ the sub bass in the DSP so that the entire range from 20 -120 is 10db above the mids and as flat as I can make the curve. Be back soon................
