Need help with ohms for amps

I was looking into that amp. It does 3000 rms at 12.6 but not much more at 14.4. That’s weird. Usually them taramps have a significant increase once they reach 14.4 or 14.6. It must be because that smart amp has a computer or some sh!t, idk. I kinda like it. But if I were to ever go with a taramps it would be a 8 to 12k.

Regulates the rail voltage to avoid over current draw damaging it.

I looked into that taramps smart 3 more in depth and go with that amp buy make sure your gains are set properly. It’s really efficient and says it only pulls 150 amps max during music play so get that amp for sure for your subwoofer. And get a taramps ds800x4 for the 6.5s and a taramps ds160x2 for the tweeters.

Sweet, you've done some research. 80prs. One of the best sounding Pioneer decks ever produced. You will notice that over time the face plate gets a little loose from vibrations. So as for your one 12" subwoofer having dual (two) 2ohm voice coils connected to a mono amp (this is very common by the way) will produce a 1ohm load on your amp when wired parallel. The guys installing it will know exactly what this means. I know it sounds kinda confusing but yes you have a dual 2ohm sub which cannot produce a 2ohm load on an amplifier by itself. The way you wire them to the amp determines the resistance. You can either double the resistance which your amplifer sees as a 4ohm load or you will half the resistance which is a 1ohm load. Almost all mono amps are capable of running stable at one ohm. Sundown underrates there subwoofers capabilities because they are competition grade. If they rate them lower they will be able to enter them in a lower class event even though they can do more. All of the comp brands do it so it's not like they are cheating. They can handle 1500watts RMS no problem. That Rockford is rated at 1395 rms at a one ohm load. This will be enough if you push the amp to its limits. I would recommend a higher powered amplifier rated at 2000+. It's better to have some left in the tank than to run out of gas. Hope this was a little helpful. Everybody has different amounts of knowledge on the subject. I try and overexplain rather than give a crappy two sentence answer which will leave you thinking "sure, okay, makes perfect sense. I'll just do as you say... even though I have no idea if you're full of it."

@SunUpNeverdown, I guess Taramps are o.k. now. I guess Pop enlightened you. Thanks for calling me a liar and saying that nobody should listen to me. He only needs two amps. The mono and four channel. He's dumping the 6"x9"'s. Did you like the pic of my alternator? 💯💪💯💪😂😂😂😂

thank you.

so hows this?

for the front stage :

Rockford Fosgate Prime
  • R2-500X4 full-range class-D 4-channel amplifier (1.9" x 6.8" x 10.1") is packed with features and performance to deliver power and bass on demand with 500 Watts of RMS power
  • Class D technology makes this amp extremely efficient by reducing demand on the vehicles electrical system (RMS Power: 75 Watts x 4 @ 4Ω OR 155 Watts x 4 @ 2Ω OR 250 Watts x 2 @ 4Ω Bridged/Mono)
Sub Amp:

Taramps Smart 3
  • Number Of Channels: 01
  • Maximum Power:
  • @ 12.6 VDC - 1 OHM: 3000W RMS
  • @ 12.6 VDC - 2 OHMS: 3000W RMS
  • @ 12.6 VDC - 4 OHMS: 2000W RMS

Why do you like the Rockford over the Taramps DS800X4?

The 250w x 2 @ 4ohms. Isn't that what I need?

This is what the taramps one says.

Maximum Power:mad: 12,6 VDC - 1 OHM: 800W RMS (4 x 200W RMS)@ 12,6 VDC - 2 OHMS: 544W RMS (4 x 136W RMS)

Maybe I just don't understand the whole ohm thing.
@12.6v..... if you feed it a 14.4v power input, it's gonna put out way more power than it would @ 12.6v. That's the beauty of them rating the amps at 12.6v.
