I haven't mentioned it over here but figured you guys may be interested too :

X8_Complete.jpg

Newly tooled frame, cone, surround, dust cap, spider, etc...

600-watts RMS / 2.5" coil

I'll have a general idea on what they will cost next week //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

It is a bit over-sized as I wanted a full 7" spider -- so the cut-out is 8.5" giving it an actual SD of true 8 inches (8 inch effective diameter).

I havent even fired up my SA8 yet and already another 8" I want! You must be a busy, busy man developing all these woofers. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

, is this gonna replace the sa-8
It is not -- they will both be available as this one will cost a good bit more so I'd like to cover both price ranges.

I am working on some more tweaks to the SA-8 for a v.2 version based on all customer feedback / real world experience to date.

No worries -- you have plenty of time to get one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I won't have my first sample unit for ~2 months or so as almost every part must be tooled. Then 2-3 months for production after approval.

Yep... I stay pretty busy... have several other woofers and entire woofer lines in development.

Then what is the real difference in this. The sa-8 can take almost the exact same of power as this. Is it geared for spl?

The SA-8 is a 2" coil driver rated for 400-watts RMS using a standard frame -- limited pretty well to 25mm max throw in one direction before soft parts get unhappy. It has 16.5mm linear one-way but will continue to push the driver up to the 25mm mark.

This driver, the X-8, is a 2.5" coil driver rated for 600-watts RMS using custom everything -- the suspension is LINEAR for 35mm one-way with 19mm linear motor travel on-eway / 30mm max magnetic travel before leaving the gap. So it is pretty much impossible to strain the soft parts (the spider will actually support more than the frame is capable of) -- which is important as this driver is predicted to have over 50% more motor force factor than the SA-8 so would shred more standard parts in a hurry.

The suspension (spider / surround) was over-built to such a degree to support any future motor designs I may wish to use -- in case anyone was wondering //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif The frame will support over 40mm rearward before the triple joint area hits the top plate.

Well that sums up what i was looking for. Thank you.

The frame was also designed with the intent to support our 3" coil "mini Neo" motor design :

Sundown Mini-Neo - Car Audio Classifieds

It's a 3" XBL^2 motor... predicted to have at least 2x more motor force than the X-8... it has nearly 30mm linear one-way excursion so it will push the soft parts closer to limits //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Once the X-8 project is totally done I'll get back to work on the mini-neo.

Should make a x-10
