Your very first "system"

This took place WAY back in the late 70's,'79 if I remember correctly. The car audio industry was nothing like it is today so your options were limited...and that's being kind.

My dad and I installed an under-the-dash Audiovox 8-track player in my '70 VW Beetle. It also came with a pair of simply horrible 4" coaxes which we mounted to a board and threw into the storage compartment behind the rear seat. Can you say primitive? Holy cow, it sucked...no bass(obviously)..just fatiguing low powered sound(the best way I can describe it).

Today's industry wasn't even a gleam in your daddy's eye in the late 70's.

Coustic 190 amp

2 12 inch M&M subs

Prefab box made for truck with probably .2 cubic ft per sub

possibly a Denon head unit or CLarion...I cannot remember

2 10" JL audio 10W4's (one still in use in woman's car)

6x9's ran of a 75x2 Kenwood (powering my MR62's now, till my Diamond is fixed)

4"s ran off HU

We were driving to the coast one day for a baseball tournament ... my car didn't really have floorboards at the time (complete restoration). So, we had a guy in the passenger seat with a bucket of water - poured it down my leg every once in a while so I didn't get burnt by the exhaust

15" hx2, sealed with a punch200ix amp...that amp was insane in the membrane....loudest system yet....even louder my 2 12" hx2s in a ported box with a bx1500d....you put the 15" hx2 with that amp in a grand am....you have some serious bass...sadly enough the amp blew that sub 2 days later....it had to be one of the loudest things....the air would move in the car and you could see papers fly from the back seats ou tthe windows....im hoping to acheive this again with 2 12" Hxxx2s...and a 2500 watt amp at 2 ohms... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

It was 1990. Got a set of MTX Road Thunder full range box speakers with 10" woofers, a Yamaha tape deck, and Sansui amp (2X75 I think).

let's see i had a kenwood deck93 some alpine 6x9s and a krako amp the old school 75/75 krako amp and some jbl tweeters that was my first tast of car audio back in the dayys!!
