I currently have a DD 3515 wired at 2 ohms pushed by hifonics 1605, which does 1100 at 2 ohms(box is 42hz). A friend of mine has 2 12" MTX 5500's being pushed by 500 watts i believe, maybe less. Yet his sounds better and seems louder than mine..

I have a 02 ford focus with the seats down. He has a 03 cavalier with the seats down.

What am i doing wrong here? Should i get a new box?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

What are the specs on your box and his?...and his will most likely sound better than yours...yours is tuned to 42Hz //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

To make it sound better Id definitely tune it around 32-33Hz.

it might be the box . and your subsonic and low pass might be set off. there could be alot to come in to effect. if the your friend knows whats up let him look over your amp and deck settings and im sure your box is tune to high. if u were to play some test tones around your box specs im sure it will hit really nice u are most likely play songs with low bass notes and not playing them like he is .

That is way too low for a DD woofer. To the OP I would do around 3-4 cubes tuned to 40hz. That amp you have is a POS and i would upgrade that after building a new box. dont be afraid to throw around 2000 watts on that bad boy.

What would be the outcome if you would tune it low and put a DD sub in it?

42Hz is great if you have a second subwoofer that does 20-40Hz and you crossover to that.

you're missing an octave dude........
